does menstrual cycle effect medicine?

Hi. I'm new to the forum and have also recently been diagnosed with Asperger's. I have Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome and since I was sterilized after my third child, I decided not to go on medication like the pill. Main reason is that I couldn't find a hormonal pill that doesn't influence my libido.

My phyciatrist (not specializing in AS) prescribed Concerta (54mg) and Serdep (100mg) for some of my Asperger's symptoms and I found that it helps a lot with my concentration and social skills.

Now my issue is that the POS causes my menstrual cycle to be very irregular. I haven't had a period since two months ago. Now I find the Concerta and Serdep not working anymore. I feel depressed and sleep A LOT!! !!

Am I using the wrong meds?
Or do irregular periods have an effect?

Please help if you can?

I think it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about the side effects of your medication if you have not already. That way your doctor can help you work out if it is the medication causing the problem or if it is hormonal causes and then they can help find a solution.

I am not a doctor, nor am I trying to play one online. But are you not on glucophage / metformin for the PCOD ? You probably need medication to regularize your menstrual cycles and control your insulin resistance. Did you tell your psychiatrist about your PCOD ? I do not have a clue about the biochemistry of Concerta or Serdip, but you want to make sure that they don't exacerbate your pre-existing hormonal imbalances and insulin resistance. A trip to your gynecologist may be in order to clear this up.

Yes I completely agree that it will be better for you to consult gynecologist for this. Because proper knowledge the medicine is needed to know the exact reason for this issue. So visit your doctor and get to know more about your menstruation and its side effects.

Yes Menstruation is really one of the important phases of a girl's life as it prepares your body for getting pregnant and for other issues related to it.
