Most areas in my life need to change, and I've come to the conclusion that developing healthy habit's will help me achieve my goals. Im struggling in the areas of organisation, planning, discipline, focus and motivation. I need to tailor strategies that suit me. Eg repeated past attempts to make new habits have failed because I forgot to implement the habit two days in a row, I use reminders, sometimes I forget to set them and it's the same outcome, or I just don't follow through.

What has worked for you?

One touch.

I try to handle emails only one time, put events into my calendar as soon as they are scheduled, and do chores and such as soon as I think of them. I also have a list of things to do by day so that I can see conflicts before they become impassible.

I second the "one touch" advice, also known as the "Ohio" method: "Only Handle It Once."
Mail, bills, etc, try to take care of it, write it onto a calendar, pay it, clean it up, etc the minute you first have it in your hand/see it, make the mess, etc. I can't say I always manage to use it or make it work for me, but I strive to live by it as it regularly does pay off best.

I like this. This is the central idea in the GTD method--but that gets you so wrapped up in systems for implementation that it can end up as a management chore that gets between you and the things you need to do. OHIO is the essence of it.

I'm in Queens, NY. My grandfather used to live in Palisades Park. I had relatives in Tenafly at one time.

Thank you for the advice, I am trying the one touch and it makes sense.
I'm using much more structure to assist my self discipline, im sticking to it but I need some light relief. Any suggestions for more energising/fun ways to create self regulation?
Adamantium what is GDR? I googled it, but I'm finding unrelated information.

Reward yourself when you finish a day's task list, and give yourself positive self-talk whenever you finish an individual item.

I have a "Do List". I write down tasks on the list immediately and cross them off as I go. The list is on it's own special pad in it's own cover. As long as I write the task down as soon as I'm aware of it it gets done. This has really helped me at home and work.
