In other words, if dinosaurs weren't wiped out tuns of centuries ago, what would the world be like today? Would there be less people in the world right now? How would people live differently over the years in order to adapt? Would towns and cities be the same? If not what would they look like? What would transportation be like? Would there still be streets, trains, and automobiles? How would it effect technology these days? would there still be computers, electricity, and the internet? How would it change politics, the political and economic structures in society? Would humans end up trying to make dinosaurs extinct?

If dinosaurs were still around, we would have to learn how to live with them. Or kill them. Or die. Something like that. The Church would be different, that's for sure. And as for economics, well, maybe poachers might go after Stegosaurus hoofs and use their ridges for military armor. Dunno. Its fun to imagine.

Meh, I'd likely have a different name, such as Barney and my wife's name would be Betty and we'd live in the Rubble household. Yabadabadoo.

What premises are you using? Creationism, in which humanity existed at the same time, or evolution?

Assuming evolution as the prior - well, it would probably be different. Mammals wouldn't have been the dominant predators, so it's likely that we would have evolved from dinosaurs rather than monkeys. That itself would have major effects on civilisation...

Since during the time of dinosaurs mammals were relegated to the role of small rat-like creatures that hid during the day, my guess is that there is a good chance that the descendants of dinosaurs gave rise to intelligence. Birds are their descendents and they have some of the smartest species aside from mammals. Crows, ravens, jackdaws, and magpies are among the smartest animals alive today. Without humans they might develop into something even smarter.

It would depend on how many and what type.

There are rumors of a dinosaur-like animal still living in remote area of Africa. Which is not so far fetched because some regions are still heavy with malaria mosquitoes. So a few here and there would mean they would be exotic animals, prized by zoos, possibly hunted as a trophy.

But if there were lots of them of various types, we would probably co-opt smaller ones as pets or beasts of burden, if they were the size of llamas for instance. And probably leave the large lumbering ones alone.

The REALLY interesting prospect would be large carnivorous ones that are smart enough to stay just far enough away from our civilization that we don't hunt them, but close enough to catch and eat us if we get too close.

We would eat them for dinner.

It is generally considered that today's birds descended from dinosaurs.

True

That claim is defensible. You could also say that birds are dinosaurs:

If that asteroid hadnt struck the earth to wipe out the dinosaurs 63 million years ago? What would have happened?

Mammals and dinosaurs appear in the fossil record at about the same time in prehistory- at about 190 my ago.

During the 130 million year reign of the dinosaurs mammals remained small nocturnal creatures who lived under the feet of the dinosaurs. They were insectorvors-much like shrews, and possums, of today.

If that asteroid had not hit the dinosaurs would still rule. Mammals would still all be shrews and hedghogs.

Had the dinosaurs not been wiped out we would not be human. Mammalian evolution wouldve been held in check. No large animal niches wouldve been comandeered by mammals. And "we" would still be tiny bug-eating shrews just as ancestors had been.

The dinosaurs however-mightve kept evolving. By about this time- one inteligent dinosaur species with bird/dinosaurlike traits ( with feathers for head hair, and feather beards) mightve been taming fire and moving towards civilization.

Exactly. I'll take mine southern fried with a whole sh**load of Texas Pete, with rice, white gravy and a some mustard greens, please. Also, eggs fried over hard are good, as are omelettes in almost any form. No runny yolks though, as they make me want to projectile vomit.

Actually, small mammals, similar to the precursors to primates, existed back then. So, it's possible to conceive of primates emerging in a world dominated by dinosaurs, and perhaps, then, humans... just probably not big ones as we have today, and not adapted to long distance running.

If the dinosaurs were still here, we wouldn't be. Their extinction is one of the main events that led to the rise of mammals.

Early mammals, around during the Reign of Dinos

Perhaps, in certain areas, they may have been able to develop into small primates, despite the presence of dinosaurs, and then into humans...
