Since there are British people here, can someone tell me where the toilet is if it isn't in the bathroom?

It can be in the bathroom but we also just say "in the toilet" meaning a room where there is just a toilet. Hope this helps

i never use the word "toilet", as it's common - it should be "lavatory" or even "loo". one's toilet is one's ablutive and cosmetic preparations, from "toilette".

"toilet"... shudder...

vetivert I suppose it depends where you come from up here it not considered
"common" to say the word toilet in this manner. We do sometimes refer to it as lavatory though

I forgot to say that I was asking because I am from Britain too.

I've always thought it was funny that Americans call the toilet the bathroom. If there's no bath, how can it be a bathroom?

The correct term is "bog" - kindly get it right everyone....

Oh, and I'm a Lancastrian exiled in Northampton to answer the thread.

I was born in London, but grew up mostly in Surrey, and now I live in Devon, with my husband, who is originally from Lancashire!
