I have looked at the actual study online, and using "data" from the
study, some of the main sources of which are the UK tabloid "Daily Mail"
and a site called "murdermedia," I have found that there is no
correlation, either in the study or anywhere else, between autism, brain
injury, and mass murder. In fact, the study itself was not able to find any
correlation between autism and brain injury. In addition, the literature
review shores up its claims by bringing in unrelated issues, such as
adoption studies, and the six "definite diagnosis" offenders are not
definite, as shown by a search I did which includes psychological
examination of offenders.

My post debunking this current, flawed, attempt to link Autistics and murder is

great blog post! am going to add the blog to blog roll of mine.

just one thing though, theres a mention of william freund not being an aspie when he murdered his neighbours/+killed himself,he was a member here-he had been diagnosed and recieving treatment [geodon] for some of the effects but the medication had made him unstable.

Thanks, Paula.

I looked at the paper and started to take notes on what was wrong with it but then got too angry to continue.
What a load of rubbish. Clare Allely and her henchmen have a lot of explaining to do. It's kind of amazing seeing the name Gillberg attached to this.

I suppose the Penn State University study that finds a close correlation between ASD and suicide ideation and attempts is flawed too

I'd much rather hold a love-in than mass murder people. I agree that the study is very flawed.

This thing is so blatantly wrong it's amazing that it even gets to see the light of day. Just one glaring thing alone caused me to instantly call BS. They use mostly people who are only suspected of having autism to pad their sample size. Then they use that broken sample as if all of them were diagnosed with autism. They call all 67 autistic, even though only a handful were in fact diagnosed. The deception is so amateurish. I can't believe anybody would take this article seriously.

I read an article on the phone the other day and I believe the article was from the Huffington Post. I saw the numbers or percentage posted as the following:

28% linked to Autism
21% linked to prior brain damage/head injuries.
the other 51% linked to various factors such as stress, abuse and emotional turmoil or environmental.

I already knew from reading this that the media decided it was going to paint the picture it wanted of autistic people. The media even said about some of the people they claim were linked to autism or aspergers as "being awkward, walking funny, having social problems" So now the profile of a mass murderer according to the media is awkward, weird walking, social problems and maybe even staring at people. And also considering that media knows that negativity, panic and paranoia sells, they also know that the average reader is likely to buy into the crap they feed them.
