What's your opinion on usernames that mention autism or Asperger's?

We, the Squid, think the turnips using turnips for turnips needs to stop! We started turniping back in 20 aught 14, and we NEVER used turnips! What would these little turnips mothers think? It's horrible. They need to put a ban on turnips used the wrong way. Why just this morning, I saw a turnip using a turnip as a turnip for turniping in the middle of the street! It's appalling!

-Yours turnipally, Cpt. Squid Turnip esq, tnp.

This is an Asperger's/Autism site.

Why shouldn't people have usernames related to Asperger's/Autism?

It would make no sense if there were not usernames of that description.

For those you you old enough to remember the unedited Buggys Bunny - Road Runner Hour:

Egghead Junior was the small incredibly brilliant, non-verbal, glasses and beany wearing baby chicken offspring of Miss Prissy, the hen that Foghorn Leghorn was trying to woo. To get in Miss Prissy's good books, Foghorn decides to take little Egghead Junior under his wing and show him how to "be a man". He tries to teach Egghead Junior to play baseball and such with a whole lot of "Well I say boy!...".

Egghead Junior was far more interested in playing with his chemistry set, building model planes and solving complex mathematical equations. Of course Foghorn always screws things up and manages to get himself into a whole lot of trouble - Egghead Junior then quietly pulls Foghorn's butt out of the fire time and again.

Looney Tunes classics.

I thought EggHeadjr was a good choice for a username and avatar and surprisingly, wasn't already taken. :D

That's often been a problem on popular websites. Usernames are taken fast.

Of course I remember that, Egghead!

Remember the line within the introduction to the Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour?

Don't you think Egghead Jr should have been AHEAD of Tweety Bird, since he was the smallest? Foghorn Leghorn took up the rear.

A username is a username. Unless it offends someone, it shouldn't really matter

Since people not on the spectrum are allowed to post one can't assume the poster is on the spectrum, therefore it is not redundant.

Even if only people on the spectrum were allowed to post it still should be allowed. I use my user name to express how I feel about my autism.

I do wish we were allowed to change our user name without creating a whole new account because feelings and identity can change over time.

I use Aspie-Autistic1957 to comment on blogs or youtube videos. I do it because
1. Those sites are for the General public so therefore I assume most readers would not know what AS, or ASD is an abbreviation for.
2. It is common to put your birth year on user names.

Before or after Tweety Bird doesn't bother me.

Egghead Junior was content to be doing his own thing - just like me :D

My first thought is that they consider AS/autism to be a notable part of themselves. But aren't most usernames reflective of something we like or can relate to? If it happens to be AS/autism, then so be it.

I don't really care one way or the other. If someone likes using aspie or autistic in their username, then go for it. I just always use the same general usernames for every website I'm on, so I don't ever think about it for myself.

I don't really care either. It doesn't bother me, and I've never really thought anything about it.
