I do it a lot, I find it calms me down and lets me think through things more clearly. I try not to do it in public but sometimes I'll whisper. When I have the urge to do it it's hard to stop it. I used to have imaginary friends as a kid and I think that translated into this over the years. It's kind of weird but sometimes I'll have conversations with myself. I can make myself laugh with jokes too. I almost got caught a few times when I had a roommate, I didn't think he was home and I was talking and he came up behind me and was like "who are you talking to?". I just said I was thinking out loud. It was awful lol.

Talked to my self while out shopping today, especially at the wine section. No decent Rioja on offer, it was just a tad over 15 quid for the bottle I am drinking now. My home town is full of fruit nuts so I doubt anyone noticed.

All the time. Even at work. Sometimes, I even meow or growl to myself. People look at me funny. I really don't care too much.

I do this big-time, but, like you, I try to limit it to when I'm at home alone, and try never to do it in public or when someone can overhear me. Also like you, its my version of thinking out loud and it seems to soothe me, help me clarify something that's bothering me, or even rehearse something I need to say better next time if I've just had an interaction in which I got brain-lag and didnt react with the response I wanted to.

Edited for a word I missed out that changes the meaning! I'm typo city today.

Yup - me too.

Sometimes it's the only way to find decent conversation :)

Exactly! I sometimes have entire conversations with another person all by myself. It's preferable to the real thing.

Yes, sometimes. I constantly 'talk' in my head, but sometimes out loud.

Same here, only the responses become too predictable after a while....like talking to Smarterchild the chatbot.

Although I do get more of a conversation from a chatbot than another human being.

"Talking to myself" fits in there somewhere but it just takes the shape of opposing/conflicting thoughts.

I will sometimes verbalise them in solitude because it also helps me focus and concentrate on a task.

Yes. It helps me to think. But I try to do it when I'm alone, or I come off as being 'odd.'

All the time...sometimes practicing conversations that I think could happen, and sometimes trying to relive old conversations (saying all the things that I wish I would have said). And sometimes I do it...well...just to do it.

I think talking to myself is actually really helpful even though people think it's weird. I talk myself step by step through a lot of things like driving and cooking and I practice having conversations (that I'll probably never actually have lol)
