I have had several job interviews and I am also doing my best to stay busy and work on some other areas that I can make money in. I have not gotten an offer from a single place that I have spoken with. I had an interview yesterday but they felt that me working there was not in the cards due to my lack of experience in retail.

I wrote back and said "I am sorry you feel that way." Then I sent the letter. I was this close to telling them to go 'F' themselves.

I kid you not....lots of interviews, not getting hired, most everyone saying I'm "overqualified" (and I'm leaving everything past my B.A. degree off the resume and application).

Last thing I went for was a dishwasher position paying $9/hour. The guy was impressed with me and felt I'd be good in the "front of the house" (server) rather than a dishwasher. Why? I was nicely dressed (although I deliberately under dressed), and I was very sociable (which I was focusing on to try and get the job).

I can't win either way.

I knew they were going to turn me down when they said "Unfortunately we have another interview today but it was nice meeting you."

I feel the same way! I've had some part-time jobs, but none of them worked out well, and now I can't find another one. So, I'm not the best person to ask for job advice. :?

However, something that might help is to focus on positives. Have you had any jobs before? That's an accomplishment. :) If you had a job that didn't work out well, did you learn from those mistakes? Are you doing/ did you do well in school? Can you take more classes to improve your chance of getting hired? Part of finding a job involves remaining positive and not giving up. Not that I always manage to stay positive, but it's something to think about.

Please don't write "burning one's bridges" type letters. It doesn't help you--it only hurts you.

If there's a Costco, I'd try to get a job there.

Sound advice on letters and potential employers.
