This shouldn't surprise many people. According to a Pew Research poll, the liberals who relentlessly advocate higher taxes are three times more likely than conservatives to think it's okay to cheat when paying them. They are more than twice as likely to excuse getting paid under the table so as to keep collecting unemployment benefits. Liberals also have less of a problem with shoplifting and buying stolen goods.

A study published in the Journal of Legal Tax Research confirms that liberals take tax evasion less seriously. One in the Journal of Business Ethics found that conservatives have "higher levels of ethical values." This shouldn't surprise many people. A study published in the Journal of Legal Tax Research confirms that liberals take tax evasion less seriously. One in the Journal of Business Ethics found that conservatives have "higher levels of ethical values." Another in the same journal found that liberals are more likely to cheat, plagiarize, and let others take the blame for their ethical lapses. The Journal of Psychology found a link between liberal political views and "lying in your own self-interest."

Peter Schweitzer blames this not on liberals being bad people, but on them having been corrupted by a bad ideology:

Modern liberalism is infused with idea that truth is relative. Surveys consistently show this. And if truth is relative, it also must follow that honesty is subjective.

Sixties organizer Saul Alinsky, who both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton say inspired and influenced them, once said the effective political advocate "doesn't have a fixed truth; truth to him is relative and changing, everything to him is relative and changing. He is a political relativist."

What's wrong with cheating and lying when reality is whatever we find it convenient to pretend it is?

The choice isn't so much between right and left, as between right and wrong. Yet again we see that liberalism is the ideology of decline.

It's still in the other thread. This is a duplicate of that one but without the poll since the polling option was hosed up, for whatever reason.

Why do you think it's funny to pretend to be a conservative?

I don't know whom to blame, but I have seen a lot of people who think that lying is clever.

There's a WWII propaganda film made by Frank Capra called "War comes to America," which you can get here:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... merica.ogv

At about the 31 minute mark is some footage of Adolf Hitler reading a letter from Franklin Roosevelt in which the president asked the chancellor to respect the sovereignty of a list of countries. The letter can be found here:

http://www.ibiblio.org/pha/7-2-188/188-12.html

By the end of the letter, Hitler and most of the chamber are in stitches, apparently finding Roosevelt's sincerity laughably naive. Some of the footage may be fake, but there are shots that are clearly taken at a Reichstag meeting in the Kroll Opera House. Over the next few years about 10 million Germans died for that mistake and others like it.

On the other end of the spectrum were people like Robert A. Taft, who was willing to argue after the war that even Nazis deserved protection from ex post facto laws. And there were principled, frank people like Thomas Heart Benton, who told lobbyists seeking a ship subsidy that he would support it as long as the ships would be used to take all scoundrels like them out of the country.

By comparison, almost every politician who's represented my district seems venal.

Posted by the same member who posted the video of Conservative who brags about being deceitful by going to book review sites and negatively reviewing books he has never read in order to make Liberal authors look bad. The same member who agreed with those dishonest tactics and stated he should start doing things like that too.

I thought you posted that video as one of your many many anti-conservative rants and I merely replied that the suggestion to post false reviews of liberal books to drive the consumer ratings down was a good idea. Seems more in character; you create a string of inflammatory threads and I gleefully mock a few of them. :P

Glad to see you're so familiar with it. I can only claim to be a periodic Free Republic reader at best....

You just posted a forum post from FR that provided no links to the study that it cites, and then encouraged liberals to flame conservatives in response. This is not the kind of behaviour that I would expect from someone who took conservatism and conservative ideas seriously. From your posting history, It's really hard not to get the impression that you're going out of your way to make conservatives look like s**ts.

Where is the original study? I can't find it or any reference to it outside of FR.
