I am 5'7 1/2 and weigh 142 pounds at the moment. When I am in my 50s I will probably be not over 5ft7.

Too avoid looking too thin or gaunt when I get to my 40s or 50s what should I aim to weigh? Basically what weight range should I be in too look as youthful as possible when I get to that age?

So many variables to this. You need to take into account your body type and what you consider "youthful". Off the top of my head I would say 165-170 for a muscular build, 150 for a skinny average build. The only role age is going to play is the slow down of metabolism and the decrease in testosterone. You shouldn't aim to be different weight at different ages.

I'd say my build is average. I was told I should weigh like 162 pounds in my 50s if I want to look young.

When I day youthful I mean to having enough far/padding on my face to not look old.

ideal weight for guys, regardless of age, is 110# for the first five feet, then 6# for each additional inch. so, 152#, give or take 10#, would be good.

Whatever you are comfortable with, that is the ideal.

Yep....I'm about 185-190 now...on a 5 foot 5 frame. I feel fat and sluggish.

Gotta start walking!

But according to what data? Hell, even what I said isn't precise. He should mainly be concerned about his bodyfat percentage, which is probably low at that weight.

You're actually doing just fine weight-wise, depending on your body type. You shouldn't worry about it.

Commander, you are dead on with this and what you said about there being soooo many variables.

Like CommanderKeen has stated, you wanna watch out and look mostly at your body fat percentage and how healthy your heart is and cardiovascular system in general. That's likely the best start (without knowing all of your info that is necessary).
