Minecraft crashes

When Im on a Minecraft server, It will randomly crash, ALOT!! ! (On 1.7.10 it does it most but on any older ones it is a BIT better)
Is there anyway to fix this?

Also, nearly everywhere I click on my internet browser an ad pops, up it is really annoying.
Is it a virus?

Are you running the latest Java? Also, what browser and OS are you using?

What program do you use to go on the internet, and what version of Windows or Mac OS do you have?

As for your Java version, you should be able to check here: http://javatester.org/version.html If the applet doesn't load due to your security settings, right click on it then select "Open Java Console" from the menu it brings up. It should bring up a window that tells you a version number.
