Hey all

After a year or two on a dating site, I finally got my first message. However, after studying the profile, I am suspicious of this person. Firstly, there are no pics on the profile and she doesn't describe her physical appearance at all. Shes shares most of my interests but she doesn't like cats!

Should I reply or ignore?

The no pics part is a little suspicious, but I don't see the big deal about 'so many of your interests' but not liking cats part

Women get so many sparse "Hi beautiful" messages that I don't think it's that unusual for women to not have pictures.

Be on the alert for "scammer grammar" - wording that doesn't quite seem like good English. If the message you received mentioned details from YOUR profile, then it's almost certainly legit.

^ROFL^

Women are notorious for not putting up pix, especially if they 'think' they're ugly, ditto for sparse physical descriptions.
These things are generally higher on the importance list for men than women usually realize, pretty much because they're generally lower on women's 'importance list.'**

So it most likely is an actual person.
Frauders will often just copypasta a hottie pix and some other person's well written profile to seem ligit, a give-away is two or more profiles with diff pix but exact same text.

**Arguers, please notice that I said lower on the list, I did not say off the list.

You should probably reply. Just watch out for scamming though, don't buy into any requests for money. Don't give anyone on the internet any money, regardless of how long you've been in contact via the dating site, if you haven't met them in the flesh.

For me, someone who dislikes cats is a bonus.

I'm the same way about people who enjoy drop-kicking puppies.

Of course, I can't disclose that with many folks...

Neither of us have subscriptions so we communicate through pre defined one liners and she sent the one that basically says "I don't have a subscription, give me one."

Nope.

Outside of the obvious "got no action in that time", any reason why?

It's disheartening and huge waste of time, no matter how little it wasted.

If she doesn't like cats then she will not like you either.

what site

try okcupid or pof they are free so you and others can message. they also are full of tons of real people. though depending on the area the people could be ugly or bad as women here have stated. In my area they are pretty and just normal people.

Scammers and trolls usually have a picture of someone with a "hot" body, mention nothing about your profile, and say something either too basic or too ostentatiously flirtatious to be real. If she doesn't have a picture she probably isn't a troll.
