Exempting people you know personally, If you could save only one famous historical figure of any period from an early death, who would it be, and why?

Just in case, I'll preemptively say George RR Martin  .

I would also like to see what Orwell would have made of the second half of the 20th century.

Bernhard Riemann. He didn't publish a lot of his work because it was incomplete.

Évariste Galois died at the age of 20 in a duel. By that time, he was a renowned mathematician. It would have been interesting to see what he achieved if he had had a longer life.

Pope John Paul I has so far been the only pope who took the "I" as part of his papal name. Ominous, isn't it? All other popes with the "I" in their name have been thus numbered only after the "II" appeared.

Lenin died relatively early. He believed in socialism with all his heart, but he could not possibly foresee what would come out of it. It would be interesting to meet Lenin and discuss with him the current situation in Russia and Ukraine.

Jesus Christ, just so I could bring him here today. To slap some sense into a lot of Christians about the greatest commandment of all.

Bob Marley because he was awesome and he really didn't have to die... he was too stubborn to refuse to amputate his infected toe and it ultimately cost him his life. He would have gone on to make many more awesome songs and enjoy his family. It's a shame he died at 36... :(
