Is it immoral to donate sperm to women without informing them of the fact that you have Asperger's?

Are you talking about a situation where not many questions about the background of the donor are asked, or one where questions are asked about medical history, disability etc. and an ASD diagnosis is deliberately withheld for some reason?

Purposely withheld.

Purposely withheld anything is immoral.

There's of course a phenomenon called "white lies", which may very well apply here.

do you really need to be told by strangers on the internet that withholding that kind of information from people who might like to make a child with your sperm, a child that might very well end up on the spectrum, is morally wrong? what is the point of threads like this?

I was just curious whether or not what I did was immoral in the eyes of people on the spectrum. Aren't Asperger genes as much allowed as NT genes to be spread?

This one splits a LOT of hairs. To be honest I think it is reprehensible, yes, although I believe it's best for everyone to respect life, no matter what's going in everyone's brains. The opinions which matter most are those of the child first and donor second; the most important priority is that everyone remains calm, informed and positive. A friend of mine comes from a very similar family and he's a really smart, normal guy. Regardless of the ethical implications, I think the donor and child could be very beneficial in one another's lives, people can talk anything through when we really need to and as crazy as life can get sometimes, we're all still sharing the same planet. The best thing anyone can do for their family is be nice and remember that there truly is no such thing as a normal family. Whomever they are, people benefit from peace and respect among everyone in their lives.

Evolutionarily, I'd say ASD is pretty much 1:1 equally aberrant to artificial insemination. In theory, the child could be on the spectrum regardless of the donor, IRL, the autism spectrum is a scale applied to all ~7 billion humans regarding just how strange we can be. The answer of course, regardless of mental traits is REALLY STRANGE. Since normality is an illusion, focus instead on knowledge and diplomacy. Frankly, is isn't a natural scenario for anybody.

But it's not about whether Asperger genes are allowed to be spread as much as NT genes. Sure they are -- but when everyone is honest about knowing that's what they're doing. As seen right here on Wrong Planet, there are couples who are aware of their autism and have their children fully aware that they may be on the spectum too, and they are fine with that decision, and it's not a big deal. That's GOOD because they are both aware, and agree that it doesn't matter anyway.

By contrast, this man knew, and withheld the information, while the woman wasn't given the choice to even have that discussion.

When you give people full information you give them choices about what they feel they can handle.

If the woman rejected the sperm based on it being known that the donor has Asperger's and her child may be born with that neurology too, then that's another topic, as to why she feels the need to avoid producing and raising a child with Asperger's.

But this topic is about a woman going for the use of sperm donation unaware of any potentials, because the donor deliberately chose not to reveal that information.

It's genetic information and she had the right to know.

The fact that he deliberately did not reveal something that should have been revealed is immoral. Whether it be about Asperger's or about heart history.

A donor of sperm should hold himself to being thoroughly honest about any and all genetic information as far as his knowledge of his own information can possibly extend.

What you did is immoral. Also, I would not be surprised if you could get into legal/civil trouble by falsifying such documents.

What does this have to do with anything?

Please note, you probably don't want stuff like this put onto a public forum. As it's evidence that can be used against you.

Just go back and tell the place about your diagnosis.

No. A white lie is something like "That haircut suits you", not "Oh no, I don't have a disorder which as far is everyone knows is genetic and which could give you a disabled child if you breed with me".

Already had two children through sperm donation and have zero intentions of informing said bank. I need my AS genes to survive into the next generations, and full disclosure means I would not be accepted. Some sperm banks don't accept gay guys, either... I say if you are autistic or gay, lie about it and trick the normie system. It's ridiculous double standards keeping our genes from being spread. It's discrimination, pure and simple.

Unethical. Yes.

Immoral.......meh. Not so sure.
The genepool does need Autism in order for the human race to survive and evolve. NT policy is too narrow minded to get that on thier own.
