"Senior Developer Analyst"..... Every other company calls us "Analyst Developers" but I think my company realised the accronym that would ensue from adding the "Senior" bit.... It would've been suprisingly apt......

After working for the same company for 12 years, doing work that no one else is able to do (thanks to my aspie brain - ) I'm still making only $10.20 per hour! Finding another job would require buying new clothes, making a resume, applications, interviews, rejections, etc. - all things I hate doing. I HATE hassle!! ! so I stay there, hoping this fragile company goes under and lays me off... if I'm unemployed I can get all kinds of help!! !

Oh, my gosh, Alex. I thought that was a personal question! Well, since you're a nice guy, I'll just say that I bet you didn't mean any harm.

Aside from being a personal question, having everything expressed in US$ is a poor indication of relative wealth since you're not accounting for cost of living. For example, when I went to Paris this month I discovered that virtually everything there costs between 1.6 and 2.2 times what I would pay at home in Canada (after currency conversion). If you want to know how people are doing, you would do better to ask what how much they earn as a percentage of their country's per-capita GDP (listed in CIA Fact Book) or Average Industrial Wage (I don't know where you would find that info).

$11/hr here but that is for my job only. I get rent from 2 apartments and will soon have 3 more up and running. Eventually I will have no wage and live entirely off rent and possibly some part time boat building. Yup....NO WAGE!! ! I WILL NO LONGER DONATE SERVICE TO CORPORATE CRIMINALS....woooohoooo!! !!

Yeah, cost of living is another thing. My $11/hr here would have to be $18 or more to live in most places in Ontario. My sister sent me some house listings from Fort Mcmurray, Alberta. Trailers...MOBILE HOMES that are 5-10 years old, with barely any yards and maybe a 2 lane driveway IF your lucky....are going for $300,000+! !! !! !! !

Of course your average crap job there pays over $20/hr.

There's interesting trade offs to be made regarding wages.

I earn approx $25/hour. I could earn more but I'd have to move into a job with less flexiable hours and more stress. Its just not worth it to me. I also could never be an enterpeur, no matter what the payback.

Right now, I'm getting £40 ($73.5) a week from Disability Living Allowance and £34 ($62.5) a week unemployment benefit. Hopefully I'll be making lots and lots and lots of money when I get past this depression and start my uber-successful business.
