Does anyone else have particular items that are comforting to them? For me, I always have a sweater/ jacket (I love feeling the fabric on my arms) and certain perfumes that I always have sprayed on so that if I need to calm down, I can sniff them and feel better. Anyone else/ if so, what are they? If not, what do you find to be comforting for you?

My plushies. I usually bounce between different ones though. Some of my biggest ones are my scarfy, which is this soft cotton scarf that feels really gentle on my cheeks. It's also good for crying with a runny nose. :P I also have my Axel plush, which is also special because he was the first plushie i got from my anime convention and was squished between a few hugs with a favorite voice actor of mine. <3

Right now, my current source of comfort has been my Eleven plush from Doctor Who. His sonic screwdriver lights up, and he says "Hello. I'm the doctor". I have so many plushies I could talk about, but the post would be so long that no one would read it all. :P Also, my Loki hoodie, My captain Hook Hoodie and my Jaguar hoodie (from my school) all give me comfort as well. Mainly, because they are my favorite hoodies at the moment.

My comfort item is my small puzzle toy where you make shapes out of cubes held together tightly with an elastic string. It also clicks which I love about it. If I'm feeling nervous, I take it out and work on solving it.

Purple is my all-time favorite color----surprise, surprise----and is very comforting to me. I always have a purple something with me, at all times----whether I'm wearing it, or carrying it in my sack.

I agree with so many posts here. Is there anyone who finds a particular scent to be comforting at all?

Also, I forgot to mention my music and my iPad. My iPad provides me with the comfort of being able to right down my thoughts and stuff if I'm overwhelmed.

I do find certain scents comforting. I love the scent of secret wonderland from Bath and Body Works. It makes me think of Wonderland, and I'm also obsessed with Alice in Wonderland so... yeah. Same goes for the Japanese Cherry Blossom scent as well. It reminds of Japan, and the scent of it can be rather comforting for me.

I always have to have a comforter or a quilt to wrap around me when I'm in front of the computer or the TV. When I'm visiting my parents and use their computer I feel really uncomfortable unless I get one of their quilts. It's kind of embarrassing. I also have lots of stuffed toys and plushies because I've been addicted to them my whole life, and I have quite a few that I made by hand based on cartoon characters I made myself. I also find scented candles soothing... except for that time I tipped one over by accident ans spilled wax all over my hardwood floor... and I also like the soft, droning hum and gentle breeze coming from a fan. It's hard when I have to stop using my fans when the weather gets cooler. When I was younger (my 20's) I used to watch cartoons and kid's shows or listen to music a lot more to relax me, but I don't do that much now.

I have my favourite oversized sweater with the dinosaur on the front; I like layering it over the top of my long sleeved camo jean shirt because the two together create a weight and bulk that I find very reassuring. I also have my plushies, weighted blanket, and fuzzy tangle which I bring to school with me and play with under the desk when I'm feeling nervous, as well as my ipod. The music wraps me in a coccoon of familiar sound and acts as a sort of barrier, protecting me.

I prefer little "pocket animals". I got three last week and carried the little mouse in my pocket for a few days before having my daughter choose one of the three to help her get through going to a new, very large church. She chose the mouse. It worked very well. She ripped up little papers for litter and put them inside a plastic "Easter" egg that had had putty in it. She put more paper in a sock for extra litter, beads in another sock for food, a baby bottle for water, and a rooster feather from the neighbor's chicken to comb or pet the mouse with. I told her that it helps when we are nervous or scared to take care of someone or something else and to focus on her mouse and think about her mouse when she is nervous or scared. The mouse is only about half an inch and made of painted clay. Another thing I do is take pieces of whatever sewing project I am working on when I have to go somewhere. I used to take the photograph I was drawing from everywhere when I as working on a portrait. I get "stuck" and even emotionally attached to things that I am doing and it's difficult, sometimes anxiety provoking, to stop doing something.
I don't "personify" or play with pocket comforts anymore but I do still take them out and put them against different backgrounds and in different positions just to see what it looks like in different places.
