^I've found a lot of Master System music to be quite sad sounding, which is part of the reason why I'm not a big fan of that system.

It has to be Ezio's Family from Assassin's Creed 2 for me. The game opens with it, and every time I listen to it, it reminds me of the life and family Ezio lost.

the credits music to Klonoa: Door to Phantomile for both Playstaion 1 and the Wii. Jeez, you still feel like you've been just smacked in the face by the ending, especially when the rest of the game before that was cute and mostly cheerful, and then that music plays... :cry

The original game over music to Super Mario Brothers. There are variations of the same tune in recent games but they sound a bit more comical than sad.
