A little less than a week ago, I was flying back home from Fall Break, and as I was getting on the plane, I saw a young woman who looked to be about my age carrying a small stuffed rabbit. It just so happened that I ended up sitting next to her and her friend who was wearing a long-sleeved shirt with Gen 1 My Little Pony characters on it - Firefly, Sundance, Gusty and Sprinkles.
As I sat down next to them, I gestured toward the girl in the pony shirt, saying, "I just wanna say, I love your shirt-" and then, to the girl with the stuffed bunny - "And I love your bunny!" I then pulled Dory, my stuffed dolphin out of my bag, and said, "I have a stuffed animal, too - this is Dory." The woman smiled and asked me, "Does she "keep swimming?" And I said, "Yes. she does!" I also ended up introducing her to Dorie and Babs, as well.
She told me a bit about her bunny - his name was Will Bunny, and she carried him around because she really wanted a pet, but couldn't afford the pet deposit where she lived. I don't really know what a pet deposit is, but a stuffed bunny seems like a nice alternative, if you can't have the real thing.
We also talked some about Doctor Who and where our favorite places to eat in our hometown were. It was a lot of fun, talking with the two of them. I just sort of got the feeling that they and I were the same, and that I didn't have to be nervous around them. I didn't find out what their names were, but I hope I run into them again someday. I don't know if either one or both of them had AS or not, but it was still nice meeting them, and seeing that there are other young adults like me.
