Does having Aspergers make me a 'ret*d", or mean I have a 'metal retardation??
I've been noticing that a lot of people in the comment sections on Youtube and other sites are saying things like 'thats so f*****g autistic" or "thats autistic as f**k"
It makes me feel like a ret*d, especially as my brother and dad also have the same condition..
:skull:

No. Aspies are not ret*d, but normal to bright/gifted.
The common "retardation" in aspies is "social dyslectia" and maybe some sensory/motor things.

No you're not 'ret*d' its the same as some people on internet would tell someone they sound like any certain group of people as an insult; so does that make that group of people dumber or 'ret*d'??
Don't take internet people seriously anyway lol

Autism is not connected to mental retardation but lots of people including some I dealt with in mental health & providing services for developmentally disabled think autism is a lesser form of mental retardation

No it does not and the word for it now is intellectual impairment. They don't use the other word anymore.

mental retardation

noun
:subaverage intellectual ability equivalent to or less than an IQ of 70 that is accompanied by significant deficits in abilities (as in communication or self-care) necessary for independent daily functioning, is present from birth or infancy, and is manifested especially by delayed or abnormal development, by learning difficulties, and by problems in social adjustment
— mentally ret*d adjective

Those people really don't know anything. It is just some new baby gangster wanna be cool lingo from undereducated people. Most of them are smoking "tree" or "dabs". They say it because they think it's cool.

There are people with severe autism who are intellectually disabled. Meaning they have an IQ below 70. That used to be called "mentally ret*d". But I know some intellectually disabled auties who are quite smart in their own way. When I was little I was diagnosed severely autistic, and even now have cognitive disabilities. However my nickname in the forums is "Little Eisenstein".....But in real life I appear "ret*d" to certain people that don't know me.

I don't know why people use a term like "that's so autistic". But I'm guessing that is targeted at severe autism.

 Is that so? Being a smoker of trees and 'dabs' I take offense to this generalization..I do not think it's cool to throw the term ret*d around as an insult or call autistic people ret*ds. Been called ret*d plenty of times myself and didn't like it so why would I want to do that to other people and I smoke a lot of 'trees' 8)

Aspergers is more of a difference than a disorder IMO. There might be "social deficits"--but the "intellect," overall, is intact.

By all means, watch the videos, but don't read the YT comments! It's basically a bunch of Beavis and Butt-head kiddies acting like they know stuff.

In my experience it is certainly both a difference and a disorder, intellect doesn't exactly make up for any of the other difficulties it can come with.

Being under the influence in social situations, you lose control, mood swings, poor judgement. That's for being drunk, not sure about trees.

Hey. Smoke it if you got it. It is the terminology I am referring to. Smoking a trees, is not actually smoking a tree. The same people who say "that is soo autistic", really doesn't have anything to do with it. It is not literal. They may not even know what it is? "that is soo stupid, you're ret*d". Same thing. Heard it alot. It's not real. it may make them feel smart just to say it too. Sometimes it is humor to them.

How about a psychopath calling you crazy? No, sorry, there is no medical terminology for the word crazy, but a psychopath will use the word like it is an essential part of his language skills or something. It makes the psycho "feel" like he is not. It may also make you belive that you are so he can be advantaged in some way.

It is a weird world made of non literal words.

Sorry for being me.
