I think I will not be. I am alone this year and am expecting a Blue Christmas. The last time I lived alone (9 years ago) I put up a Christmas tree and was so depressed and fed up that I took it down on the 23rd.

It seems like it's a celebration of everything I don't have. Abundant family, excessive food and shopping, friendship, belonging. I am not really feeling it.

Will you decorate, why or why not?

I don't have much to celebrate, but I do plan to. Social elements aside, it's a once-a-year excuse to indulge a little and enjoy the winter weather. I certainly can't afford much, but I bought some small festive candies for the instructors I talk to often and there will probably be a Steam sale where I can buy some new games.

I just don't have that discerning eye. I'm not into decorating at all. I don't even have any pictures by my desk at work.

The grocery store near where I live sells those wreaths made of spruce boughs. Really expensive. Well I was walking home the other day and on the sidewalk was one of the boughs; which must have fallen from someones wreath or whatever. It had several nice cones on it and a little tiny baby one. So I brought it home. It's already starting to lose needles but the smell is pretty. Maybe I will put a bow on it.

A lot of people in the neighbourhood that I have moved to have put up lights and such. It is pretty.

I enjoy decorating, but am irked by having no one to share or appreciate it. Last year I did up the whole patio in lights. It looked pretty.

LOL...Don't get a tree---they don't hold up well against the tide of big dogs.

Are you good at that thing where people cut up paper and create snowflake type things?--I forgot the name of it.

Oh yeah...it's called Origami.

Unfortunately not. My snowflakes were always dreadful. I am not dextrous.

At least you got that eye, and that desire. That's the most important thing.

Don't they have lots of Christmas decoration-type things at Dollarama or something?

Oh, I have decorations. I'm just not sure whether to put them up. It might trigger a meltdown. I'm on the tipping point. lol

I never been into decorating or even looking at decorations; I don't get the point of that stuff. Me & my girlfriend are spending xMas with my family for a couple weeks so there's no reason for us to decorate & we don't have decorations if we were staying here.

No, I don't have the money and its not particularly important to me either. Perhaps next year when I have a nicer place. I'm probably sentimental enough that if I could do it I might and be proud of it so maybe its kind of a fox and the grapes type thing, its hard to see the point tho when it is just for yourself. I live in an apartment building so it isn't like anybody can see it and nobody is coming over here.

This must be one of those subtle language differences between both sides of the pond.
When I read the tile and poll as "Are you decorating", over here decorating means painting and hanging wallpaper, DIY, so I voted yes as I just fitted a new kitchen.

Seeing its a thread about christmas decorations I should have voted no, as a Christian I steer clear of pagan worship and so have nothing to do with christmas.

I am reluctantly trying to, my heart just hasn't been in it. This year has been rough. Both my cat and also a former neighbor both died in February. My mom's sister died the day after my mom's birthday In October. Then a friend to both mom and I died last month. Too much loss this year. I will still make the attempt, but it won't be easy. I didn't even enjoy putting out the tree like I usually would.

I don't really need to this year as I kept my Xmas decorations up in my living room all year, lol.
I just could not be bothered to take all the things off my walls that I stuck up, or the lights down and my tree just sits on the chair in the corner because I have nowhere to store it really. I love shiny things and Christmas things in general anyway. I will be helping my mother decorate her flat this weekend as she struggles with it a bit now.
I am not really 'feeling' Christmas yet, I may not at all as I am quite depressed I think.
