sometimes when i talk to people about different things, they tell me to follow my intuition or my gut instincts about stuff.

either i don't understand what they mean, or i don't have either of these things (except when it comes to computers/machines).

do others have this problem?

I know what they mean, but my 'gut instinct' is usually wrong.

I follow my feelings the majority of the time.

I have trouble using my 'gut instinct' or intuitive abilities because they always clash horribly with my logical, over analytical mind.

When I feel I need guidance, I always ask for help from someone else.

I kinda know what you mean. I'm not too sure what my gut instinct is. All I get is what I do or don't want to do, and that's when I've had to plan what to do. When I don't plan then I'm a little out of control then everything starts to unravel. :(

I'm very intuitive, but then I'm INFP. Even then, it took me decades to notice my intuition and listen to it. It started when I got a green light one day and didn't move. That saved my life. Okay, a trite story, but true. So then I thought, if I get a hunch and it causes no harm, I'll obey the hunch. So years later here I am with functional intuition.

Society is against it, it's "weird." And if you're primarily Sensate, you might not notice intuition at all.

I'll share with you a little trick I've learnt, I use it to choose whether I'll have toast or cereal every morning.

Meh, so it ain't noble.

SHUT UP!!

Anyway, when you have to make a decision on something (Not in conversation, too slow), just pause, run through what you felt, re-simulate the situation in your head.

Now, simulate the other choices (If there are any).

Pay good attention to your bod.

Do it again.

Which one did your body have the best reaction to?
Do that one.

It ain't a perfect system, but its better than any human crap.

I've found intuition works well for me, but I'm an INFJ so that's probably why but sometimes intuition is so 'quiet', it's easy to ignore.
When I start trying to use logic to make decisions, even if it seems like a good idea, it usually turns out wrong.

I do not equate Feeling and intuition. Do not think they are the same.

Intuition can go against what your heart desires. In fact, if it does, thats good.

For example, I owned a cigarette machine in a club. I got a feeling that I should sell it. even though it made me hundreds of dollars per week. My heart raced against the loss of the money, but my gut said do it, and sure enough, the bar closed a month later.

Intiuition and gut instinct are just myths so arnt not trustworthy, use facts and common sense for everything.

My intuition about people has been excellent. About other things, not so good. I often let fate deal it's hand, and sometimes come up empty.
