Type your first and last name and the city you live in or have lived in on google search. What do you find? Me for instance, something about special olympics comes up because I was in it for a month or two. (i dont have an intellectual disability, where i come from you can compete if you have Aspergers) It was someone interviewing my mom during regional games and she gave them my full name. The problem is I don't really want others to know i'm in the special olympics, especially future partners or bosses etc.
Thats why I never give my full name when someone is interviewing me. I usually give a fake last name. Because I don't want people google searching me and finding out I am autistic or anything else I don't want to tell other people. Anyone interviewing me and asking for my last name, I never give it anymore.
Good for you for being careful like that. I am middle aged so don't have a huge past on the internet. But younger people really do. I am alarmed to see so many younger people being utterly careless with what they put out there. They post pictures where they are clearly drunk or making out with somebody or flashing the camera or doing
something that they will regret other people seeing when they are older. I did all that stupid stuff too. The difference is that in my generation there was no digital media to capture it. There were only the cameras people sometimes carried with them and they pictures they took weren't very numerous since you had to pay for photo processing. So most shenanigans never got filmed.
These days, literally every shenanigan that young people do is filmed and uploaded somewhere to be preserved forever. I couldn't bear that level of photographic scrutiny but so many young people embrace it.
Janissy isn't my real name. I post no geographic, demographic (beyond "middle aged") or professional details about myself. I don't post on a myriad of fora, just here. But even here I am alarmed to see people go into dox-enabling detail about themselves. It's a little scary to see the fishbowl we are all in but I try to drape a cover over my part of it.
