Hi everyone,

I've always known I've been different, but never quite understood what it was. Now I finally have a diagnosis and my life makes a lot more sense now. I'm 29 years old and my daughter is likely an Aspie as well.

Being mostly alone with no other people to really relate to, I figured it would be nice to talk to other Aspies, so after some searching online I stumbled upon this website.

I look forward to discussing all kinds of things with you all.

Some things about me...

I am a graphic designer
I love art, anime, computers, music, programming, animals, and video games
In person, I'm generally so quiet I've earned the nickname of "mouse"

Very nice to have you here brightmorning! Welcome and hello!
I've been told I'm actually quieter than a mouse :)
And I enjoy various types of music and animals too.
Hope you stick around! :)

Welcome!

I'm fairly new myself, but have found this place a great place to be so far.

I hope you find this can be a place to have people to relate to. :)

Hi,

People always just thought i was eccentric until i was diagnosed, now it feels a bit weird and this is 11 years later. Its something that will change how you view yourself, personally I preferred just being eccentric, now I get actively worried about being socially awkward when before i just assumed i was an insufferable bastard.

How are you finding it?

Greetings, friend.

I think we all are a little 'off' in the typical sense. Personal opinions aside, welcome to the site, fellow quiet Aspie. I too, am a little on the 'difficult to hear even when speaking normally' range. However, in my case, it's simply an acquired instinct due to the fact that my voice volume can actually break local zoning laws. No kidding, I have actually out-yelled six other people in a screaming contest.

My nickname is TEK, partially due to me having found it 'cool' at the time, and partially because I happened to be the most technologically knowledgeable student at my trade school a year ago. My interests parallel yours, as I too have a deep love and obsession for computer art, anime, video games, and music, dubstep in particular. However, I also have the more risqué tastes of guns, sexual freedom, and aberrant religious thoughts. I won't discuss those on this post, so rest assured. :D

Anyhow, I seem to have gotten off track a bit. Welcome to the site, and I hope you have a wonderful time amongst these fine people, (Not to mention: 'Easy to understand and convey conversation for once.') :)

Thanks for the warm welcome! :D It's so nice to finally feel like I belong somewhere.

@einsteinmyhero - Hi!

@Mastercraft (aka TEK) - I have no idea if it is 'cool' or not to other people, but I like your nickname of TEK :)

@ApertaVerbum - Maybe its because of being diagnosed at this point in my life that I see it in a more favorable light, but I guess at first I was like "what? .. no that can't be". I have always been worried about being socially awkward so that hasn't really changed, but now I feel I can say its just a part of who I am. I don't think I want to go back to a point where I didn't know, because I've spent so long wondering why I say and do the things I do and why I'm different from everyone else around me. Basically, I think it comes down to feeling relief that I haven't been doing something wrong and that its ok to be the way I am so I don't have to feel ashamed of it.

@April93 - I agree this is a great place, I was so surprised and happy to see replies!

@softlyspeaks41 - I can't say I've been told that I'm quieter than a mouse, but people tend to forget I'm in the room sometimes. Anyway, I hope to stick around too! This seems like a very nice place to be!

@RoadRatt - Hi and thank you for the sun :) There's always something I like about sunrises and bright mornings, I suppose it reminds me of happier, less stressful days long ago.

It's nice to meet all of you!
