So Ive decided I need a new job.

I'm on Vyvanse, right? So my appetite is shot. Its not nearly as bad as the Adderal used to be, but I still have troubles. If I'm working, and I don't get a chance to eat, my body goes haywire. Now mind you, this is a McDonalds, so there's no shortage of food. But we have a food policy that says if I eat so much as a mcnugget, I can be written up and fired. So naturally, Ive set up accomodations. If I need to eat, I say so, and I get my break as soon as possible.

Problem is, its the busiest McDonalds in the Rio Grande Valley. Closest McDonalds to the Mexican border. So during busy shifts, the managers care more about dealing with the rush than the effects of my medication. Saturday was one of those days, and when I told my manager I needed to eat, she at out told me no.

I worked as long as I could. But eventually, I got the nausea. Then I got dozzy and disoriented. No matter what I said, she wouldnt let me eat. Finally, I started hyperventilating, so I left.

The worst part is that my boss is doing everything she can to avoid letting me speak to the area superviser, a.k.a. her boss. And like everyone else, shes more concerned about her bottom line than she is about my health. And now she's sticking me on night shift. Like I dont have a hard enough time getting to sleep as it is.

I dont want to do it anymore. But I cant quit til I get a new job, and I dont want to go through the stress and headache of starting a war over it while Im still there. It makes me so angry.

I work at a restaurant and have trouble finding time to eat and/or things to eat on the fly that are approved that actually keep me satiated for a while. The only suggestion I have is if you can have snacks with you that you can eat quickly with some protein and a few carbs, like a handful of raisins and peanuts, try that? The other option is to drink your food when you can, have a hearty shake -- take some PB if you like it, blend up with a banana and add some dairy or dairy substitute and that should hold you for 3 or 4 hours-- if you want to supercharge that smoothie you can add some ground flax seed you won't notice it over the peanut butter or other nut butter. If you can't have nuts you can add some silken tofu to the shake you won't taste it. If you can't have soy, you can use cannellini beans (they're the white kidney beans) which will add texture so be careful not to add too much. Oh! and if you can't drink shakes due to texture issues, I've gone with Ensure, taste not so great but sure beats passing out on the line! :)

Ok so in condensed form-- nutritional shakes, handfuls of trail mix type foods, hummus and veg is usually quick to eat though not as filling. Your health is very important.

Thank you! That's extremely helpful. :-)

Brief Update:

I have a couple of jobs I'm considering. My friend can get me a good reference to Discount Auto, and he claims his boss is very accommodating for things like this. Second, Vector Marketing said they wanted me to set Cutco Products - not too confident on my social skills for this one. And finally, my school is looking for Math tutors. This is the one I'd really like if the pay is good. It's the one job that directly relates to my field.

More news on this as it becomes available.

Cutco practically sells itself, and you can learn the scripts of selling, memorize tons of info on the product, etc. and I think you'd be surprised at how you could do well with that if you are any way decent on the phone. I find phones not so bad because I can't see the person lol it may be different for others.

Good news on the variety of job offers. Definitely go with your instincts.
