I go to an AS support group once a week and one of the members has been in and out of hospital for several months with lung problems and we have been visiting him regularly. He was readmitted to hospital yesterday and sadly he passed on this morning. He was such a lovely person, so gentle, understanding and kind, and we will all miss him so much. His life was sheer hell-he was bullied at work for many years, suffered constant anxiety, was deeply lonely and often depressed. Like me he had no family and so our group became his substitute family.
I don't know why he had to suffer so much. Like many of us on this site he had more than his fair share of burdens to carry, yet he was always ready to help others and to listen to others. He was such a good person and I can't believe that he has gone.

My personal condolances. It will take time to get over such a loss. I'm not over the loss of my father. Just by typing this i'm almost breaking into tears. I cannot belive that my father is gone either - it seems so surreal that i will never meet him again, but i have almost accepted it now. Death is unfortunately a part of life.

I've learned that the best thing to do is to keep yourself occupied, and i did so by learning as much as possible about his life and documenting it to celebrate who he were, saving family pictures, super8 movies and other material that noone seemed to care about. But that is what i did, it may - or may not work for you.

Now, 6 months after the event i feel alot better, the first week was hell. A college of mine said that it may take up to 1 to 2 years before you get back to normal. Do not forget to take care of yourself: helping others is nice, but you risk draining yourself if you are not looking out for yourself.

My Condolences.

It's a pity he couldn't have had a better, full life.

Bullies should be bullied themselves! Put the shoe on the other foot!
