I drink a lot of coffee. Wondering if it's something other Aspies do or if it's mostly an NT thing. I know it's not supposed to be good for mental illness, but I drink it anyway.

I don't drink coffee, even though I like the smell of it.

I think it's universal--not an Aspie or a NT thing.

I have 3 shots of espresso every morning, then I continue to drink black coffee throughout the day.

I feel like absolute crap if I don't get my fix.. I work 14 hour graveyard shifts, so I kind of depend on it. :|

I need my morning coffee. Sometimes another shot later. In the afternoon I'm on teas (including herbal).

But I don't think that's an Aspie thing - my parents (mother and stepfather) are coffee addicts and NTs. Specially dad - I think he's made of coffee sometimes!

i wouldn't trust that article if it suggests drinking 5 cups a day. 2-3 would be better for health, since it contains a lot of caffeine. Seriously, 5-6 is approaching an overdose.

Decaffeinated coffee on the other hand, i'm not sure. I have about 5-6 cups a day. I have two cans of Red Bull which i have cut down to 1 after i found out Red Bull contains at least 3 teaspoons of sugar.

I should have said English mugs, not cups, as i'm not sure how big the cups are overseas.

I'm not talking about the extreme cases, i'm taking about the limit before bad side effects occur. 5 mugs is asking for problems.

I like coffee but I tend to go for the better quality or organic kinds, even though it's a little more expensive...and I typically drink it black, though I like the steamed milk or whatever from time to time. I just got a new french press and small coffee grinder yesterday because I broke the french press I had on accident, and it came with an electronic milk frother thing for when I want to do that.

I also like regular tea like green, white and black as well as various herbal/plant teas...As for mental illness I try to lay of caffeine if I am feeling particularly on edge since it can have the potential to amplify anxiety, so on days like that I don't have coffee as I don't like decaf, might have a cup of white or green tea and then aside from that just relaxing or good tasting herbal/fruit/plant tea blends.

i do drink coffee; it dulls my periferal senses and improves focus; basically what ritalin promised me but didn't deliver.
aside from that, the walk to the coffee machine is a regular small break, so it is as much the ritual that is benifical as the stuff itself

I like coffee, but I don't drink it as much as I used to. I find caffeine sometimes makes me more anxious and irritible.

A lot of caffeine can make me overly jittery and anxious so I generally avoid it but sometimes I go thru phases where I drink a lot of coffee or tea. I like the taste and it is nice to have a little boost from time to time. Usually my mind is somewhere else or I just don't feel like going thru the process of making it which I find taxing for some reason, I really like those Keurig Cup things tho and if I had one I'd probably drink it a lot more regularly.
