Parents, what are your child’s favourite toys?

Hello! My name is Tina and I am currently studying at Monash University, completing my final honours year research project. I have chosen to pursue research into sensory toys/products for Autistic children. In order to better understand what Autistic children like to play with, I am hoping if anyone would be able to provide some answers to the following two questions:

What is your child’s favourite toy/product? (doesn’t have to be a toy! it could even be a broom’s bristles!)
What qualities in a toy/product do you find most important? What do you look for?

Thank you in advance! Your help is much appreciated!

To find out more about my project, or if you have any concerns or queries please feel free to contact me on:

When I was younger, my favourite toys were twist ties. I used to make people and animals and act out stories with them.

My son's favorite toy is a scientific calculator, followed by a label-maker.

Stuffed animals.... She doesn't really play with many toys (she didn't ask for anything other than stuffed animals till she was about 4-5). The only time she will usually play with toys is if her sisters or someone else is playing with her. Usually she reads to her stuffed animals, talks to them, and looks at dinosaurs books. She loves being tickled.

My son is 13, and his favorite toys have changed over the years. At one point or another his special toy interests have included:

- stuffed animals
- legos
- pokemon cards
- balls
- cups
- video games related to toy themes (lego batman, pokemon games, etc.)
- Skylanders characters and traps (video game).
- certain game apps on his phone - currently it's Clash of Clans and Trivia Crack.

He also will sometimes rotate back to previous interests.

Edited to add that a current "toy" is our dog. Not quite sure the dog likes that. :?
