Hi, I am new on here.
I wanted to start with a basic question.
I like collecting diecast aircraft and watching planes. What are some of your "obsessions" that neurotypical persons might find "strange"?

Systems theory, and introspection during altered states of consciousness.

Welcome to WP!

I am very interested in carnivorous plants. Most of my interests in the past have been biology-related, but I also get obsessive about pop culture and music, watching or listening repeatedly (to an extreme) and researching facts.

I'm obsessed with the passage of time, used to be obsessed with nature and animals, and still love them, but not to the point of obsession.

Pop music of the 20th century; drawing, tattooing and comic book art; comedy and voice mimicry; philosophy, mysticism and the paranormal; creative writing. Not necessarily in that order.

I really don't have special interests that border on obsession. But I do have a strong interest in mathematics and meteorology(which i have degree in ) .

Welcome!

It seems my obsessions follow a pattern: Comic books, Math, Cryptography, Computer Programming or Computers in general (lately I have been in the midst of a massive Linux obsession), taking apart various electrical items... But then it starts all over again. It gets pretty bad at times and unfortunately none of it is practical...

Compulsive language learning (and a grammar freak for my native language); productivity and health for about ten years until I decided it was all lame; playing folk music (Celtic especially); drawing and painting.

I stopped a lot of these to focus on productivity and writing for work/school and since discovering I'm an aspie I've let myself do whatever I want to see what I do. I draw and play music, just like when I was a child! It's great, although I suck now. It'll take a while to get good.

I was also obsessed with fairy tales and mythology as a kid and that's coming back again. Maybe it's hard wired. :)

Lately I've been obsessed with punk music (especially the Clash and other British punk bands of the 70s/80s), as well as autism and related neurological/psychiatric conditions. When it comes to my special interests my mother always yells at me for being too obsessed with them, because usually I will talk nonstop about one or two topics for months on end /:

I moved to Snohomish County, Washington a year ago and am exploring every aspect of it. I explore it extensively on Google maps and also on foot (fortunately my dad also loves exploring and takes me places). And I am learning the names of all the plants, trees, animals etc. And also the history of the area. Plus I do extensive photography of it.

Cool. I have always been weather obsessed. It's not small talk to me. If there is a storm I got to stop what I am doing and watch it. Being from the region I am interested tropical storms/Hurricanes going back to the 1600's that have effected the middle Atlantic and Northeast United States.

Psychology, philosophy, and contemporary poetry. Just to name a few.

Mine is morbid in nature. I often do research on the various devices used for torture and execution of people over the centuries. It simply amazes me how mankind is so absolutely determined on destroying their fellow man as creatively as possible.
