I just learned about this, didn't know there was a term for this but it sounds like it is exactly what I have. It means that is takes too long for food to move out of the stomach into the small intestine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroparesis

Quote:
Signs and symptoms

The most common symptoms of gastroparesis are the following:[1]
Chronic nausea (93%)
Vomiting (especially of undigested food) (68-84%)
Abdominal pain (46-90%)
A feeling of fullness after eating just a few bites (60-86%)

Other symptoms include the following:
Palpitations
Heartburn
Abdominal bloating
Erratic blood glucose levels
Lack of appetite
Gastroesophageal reflux
Spasms of the stomach wall
Weight loss and malnutrition
Night sweats
Muscle weakness
Body Aches (Myalgia)

Morning nausea may also indicate gastroparesis. Vomiting may not occur in all cases, as sufferers may adjust their diets to include only small amounts of food.

I'm just curious if anyone else here has this, and if so did you find out what causes it. And what did you do to treat it?

I wish I did (obviously joking)!

I have just the opposite issue, I have delayed feelings of fullness.
I can eat a big meal and still feel the need to eat, then an hour later my brain receives the signal that I am full.
This happens to me regularly, and sometimes leads to me getting sick from overeating.

My mom was diagnosed with it. She had an upper endoscopy done to find out what was causing her problems. It turned out it hers was caused by a medication she took, so her doctor switched her to something else and her gastroparesis symptoms went away.

Yes, I do. I feel full a lot, and get pain. It started a couple of years ago, the same time I started to get overactive bladder. A colonoscopy revealed I have uclers in my large intestines, but they don't give me much trouble. The gastroenterologist wouldn't believe me about the pain in my stomach. He kept telling me it had to be coming from an ulcer. It wasn't until I had an MRI that he noticed the dye stuff hadn't left my stomach. I just sat there rolling my eyes thinking, "I told you." I have no idea what triggered any of this. It may have been a bug I picked up overseas perhaps.

I dont know if this will work but you could try drinking diluted apple cider vinegar.

it is acidic so it might kill the germs that are multiplying, the germs cause the nausea and vomiting I think.

The heartburn is caused by a lack of stomach acid. After drinking ACV, heartburn disappears immediately.

Trouble is, even diluted ACV does taste a bit rough, but it is better than feeling nausea.

GP is not caused by bacteria. Bacteria is what causes stomach ulcers. I don't have stomach ulcers and I don't have heartburn, so I doubt ACV would help me. I had some Maxolon to take when nauseous, but they confiscated it when I was in the the psych ward. I need to get some more.

I used to get it a lot more when I was younger. I haven't had that happen in a while now.

I was thinking that bacteria would cause the chronic nausea and vomiting.

I don't have chronic nausea or vomiting. Sometimes I do feel really sick after eating, and wish I could vomit, but I can't.

But I have reflux frequently. My stomach starts bloating as soon as I eat or drink anything, and sometimes it feels "sloshy" for hours after I eat, like everything I ate is still in there. It is really uncomfortable and sometimes it is painful.

What's weird is, you'd think I'd have chronic heartburn, but I don't. It's very rare for me to have heartburn.

I also have night sweats, and I was surprised to see this listed as a symptom. Not sure what the connection is.

I've had trouble with reflux since I was a teenager. When I was around 16 I got checked out to see if I had a hernia, but they didn't find anything.

My dad has the same problems with reflux and bloating, and he has Barrett's disease. The lining of his esophagus has turned black. He said, he told a doctor that he felt like food was still in his stomach for hours after eating it, and the doctor told him that was impossible. I think the doctor was wrong. lol

Anyway whatever is causing it, I think we have the same condition and it must be inherited. Still thinking on there being Parkinson's or some type of parkinsonism in the family.
