Hi. My name is Debra and was dx recently at 44. The therapist that I began seeing for a completely different reason (my son has Duchenne and I was suffering from depression) talked to me about AS the first session. I wasn't able to function in the group therapy sessions that were required (I was excused from the rest). We know now that I have AS and it has explained my WHOLE life. It completely destroyed my relationship with my parents, siblings, friends, etc. It seems my son and only friend (who have the same personality) are able to tolerate and care for me. I am happy to know there was a reason I had such a difficult time as a baby, child, teen and adult but sad because the damage has been done. My therapist thought it would be good for me to find other people who have AS and see how they are able to function in a world I have never understood (I still don't). I will be working on my profile. I just like to do profiles a little at a time.
