I just don't feel this is enough time, for killing someone----I didn't believe his sob-story, for a MINUTE!! I mean, he said he thought someone had broken-into his house, and was behind a CLOSED bathroom door----and, one COULD argue, I guess, that that story's plausible----but, COME ON----IF a burglar broke-in through the bathroom window----and, even if Oscar was one to keep the bathroom door closed----the burglar would've been OUT of the bathroom, WAAAAAY before Oscar could "register" that there was a disturbance, get his gun, and get to the bathroom, IMO, because a burglar would be there, to go-THROUGH the house, QUICKLY!! Someone, most likely, wouldn't break-in to someone's bathroom cuz their last Burger King order, didn't agree with them----The Hamburglar!! LOL

Just goes to prove that justice can be bought. Another case of the rich can get away with murder, and the rest of us get it up the arse when we break the most minor of rules.

The prosecutors failed to accurately prove malicious intent in order to a murder conviction.

We all know he killed her, but no one has been able his actions were malicious!
I don't believe he was maliciously trying to kill her, when he shot her.

All the evidence was circumstantial at best.

I've spent years trying to impress upon WP at large the value of due process and the presumption of innocence; perhaps you'll have better luck.

What he did was akin to a drunk driver or someone texting whilst driving, killing someone.

So, whatever punishment you deem is suitable for that.

I don't believe his story, I believe he is a murderer. Pretty big joke he gets out in 10 months but there are non-violent offenders who never hurt anyone that have to serve every day of their sentence.

It's by no means certain that he'll be out in August. There's still the issue of the state appealing his murder acquittal, (though he was found guilty of culpable homicide). Even if they lose the appeal though, they may still decide that he must serve out his 5 year sentence.

I don't believe his story either anymore but it doesn't matter in any event. The prosecutors failed to prove their case against him which is not surprising because the police messed up the crime scene.

Also, it's not only the case with Oscar. Anyone who get's a sentence that is 5 years and less only have to serve a 6th of their sentence at a minimum.

P.S. As far as South Africa is concerned, why is everybody talking about Oscar Pistorius and nobody is talking about the Al Bashir saga i.e. the fact that our government has just defied both domestic and international law by letting a wanted war criminal leave the country while the High Court ordered his arrest? Oscar Pistorius is old news.
