Had a day long neurocognitive workup. Questions.
Per title I went in for a day long neuro-cognitive test. There was about 8 hours of testing in all (plus an hour for lunch, so I was there almost 9 hours).
The lab techs had me taking all kinds of different tests, many seemed geared toward memory. One was a computer test that showed 5 digits, then blanked for 10 seconds and showed two 5 digit numbers. I had to pick the one previously shown. I got most of those right after using a system (remembering the first three digits).
Later, I was given a list of words and asked to repeat them. I could only get 4 or so. It took me several attempts before I got maybe 8 or so (out of 11 or 12). The last time I was ready to cry, so disappointed with myself.
Another test was given to see how much of a story I could remember. The story was only a few sentences long, but contained a LOT of facts and information. I was barely able to summarize the basics. Again, I felt pretty horrible and stupid.
I was shown another list of words and asked to describe what each meant. I knew 85% of the words, but the last two pages included several words I'd never seen or heard used before.
Throughout the day during lunch mostly, I was asked to fill in a MMPI-2 test.. I'd never taken it before and answered as honestly as I could.. many questions were hard to answer since it depended on the situation. I answered as best as I could.
I was referred for this test due to dementia in my family, and being on meds for epilepsy all my life. I had concerns about memory loss.
Has anyone taken these tests before? What does it mean that I cannot remember words and stories very clearly? I felt awful after the 'repeat my list of words' test.

Remembering up to four items seems quite average imo, normal as in nothing wrong with that, training might make it easier to remember more. The whole day, that's very long for this sort of testing, you would be too tired at a point to perform, and would give worse results later on the day, I imagine.
Don't worry, it seems to me you did alright on this.
Wow you did these all day long?! You should feel proud of yourself for just putting up with 8 hours of this. As someone with poor memory (from migraines, ADD, etc), this sounds like it would be a challenging set of tests. It doesn't sound like you did badly. What did the doctors say?
