The Restaurant at the End of the Universe is probably the most consistently funny book I've read thus far. I'm actually rereading through the Hitchhikers Guide books right now for the first time in like five years, and I'm enjoying them so much I know I'm going to have major withdrawal when I reach the end. Also, the part in the middle of Life, the Universe and Everything with Arthur in the cave had me laughing my ass off for like five minutes straight. What can I move on to afterwards?

I laughed until I cried with the book "Lamb." It's hysterical.

Any of the Jeeves books by PG Wodehouse.
Particular favourites are 'Joy in the Morning', 'The Code of the Woosters' and 'Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit'

I don't laugh at stuff I read much, but I can read a lot faster than usual when I'm reading something that amuses me.

I loved Portnoy's Complaint. I tried another Philip Roth book once, but ditched it after 20 pages. Same subject (talk about a one-track mind) but without the humour.

I liked Billy Liar by Keith Waterhouse too. And the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy.

My favorites
Our Dumb Century by the people who did the Onion.
Dave Barry's stuff (especially Guide to Guys and Big Trouble the latter which is a novel)
Christopher Buckley's A White House Mess, and Thank You for Smoking
I also like some of P.J. O'Rourke's stuff (not his latest stuff though)
