Some people are convinced, that he is......but he might just be a nerd with a couple of traits.

Random people speculating =/= a diagnosis.

I think there are a few on these forums.

I know this is speculation, and not a particularly educated one at that, but Bill Gates' success seems to have relied a bit too much on inborn social skills for him to be an aspie. A much more believable aspie---and much less successful, at least in material terms---is Richard Stallman. Perhaps Eric S. Raymond is a better example of a succesful aspie, though I have no idea whether he is actually an aspie or not.

The only thing that comes to mind is the creator of Pokemon apparently has Asperger's but I'm not sure if this is the same kind of speculation as Einstein and Gates.

I wouldn't call myself unsuccessful, though I'm not a great success.

There are quite a few people on WP who are successful in raising families and keeping jobs.

Contrary to the "prevailing wisdom," Aspies/autistics frequently are successful in their lives.

More or less what I was going to say. "Successful" is a very broad, very subjective category.

Agree with the other posters.

There are people here and people that I personally know who are in what I would call high level careers in positions of authority. Movers and shakers in the world. Doing things they like all day long.

People here and people I know who have outstanding personal lives. Like people in fantastic romantic relationships, who could easily get another mate if their current one didn't work out, great kids, great parents.

People here and people I know on planes of existence who have reached inner levels of peace and satisfaction that the rest of us wouldn't know about if they hadn't gone out of their way to explain it. From an interest, being secure with themselves, or from some abstract thing only they get.

I've never met or heard of anyone with all of these things at once, but I would say that aspies and auties with one of these kinds of things going on is common. Keep in mind that sometimes when a person is doing very well, they don't bother to seek a diagnosis and then don't share it if they happen to have one.

The character Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory has an incredibly obvious and exaggerated case of Aspergers regardless of what the writers of the show claim. Would his character be considered "successful" I don't know.

What does success mean to you OP?

To have goodwill to others, to respect the planet, to do one's best to reduce rather than add to the terrible issues in our communities, countries, lives?

Or to have status, unlimited money, power of over others, or (Heaven forbid) Kardashian 'celebrity'?

It comes down to values, always. Just as my values shape my perception of who is a successful person, whether neurotypical or neurodifferent, so do yours. So what are your values?

Sheldon Cooper is a caricaturized Aspie (it seems to me) who is successful at making a living, though not successful in social ways.

Yep...it DOES matter what one's criteria for "success" is.
