I'm an audio AND visual learner. I have to have both in order to have a better understanding of what I'm being taught. I also have noticed that being taught in person helps a lot too, which is why I've registered all of my college classes as on campus rather than online.

I learn best when I either:

1. read something

2. train hands-on

My "gut"

and these three steps:

1) See it.
2) Do it.
3) Teach it.

Sweet.
I'd roll with that too, except 1) swap "see" with "hear".
I like to work along with paper and pencil to put the auditory info directly into practice. Unfortunately this type of teaching is very rare, so I need to improvise a lot: tell teachers to please read the formula out loud or watch a different video.
Also, if the teacher has a voice that sounds like high-pitched plastic-bubble gum, it will lead to sensory overload.
I much prefer male teachers for that reason.

Seeing and manipulating things.
No audio.

Doing. By myself. In silence.

- If they leave me alone with materials and specified request for result - I will potentially figure out how to do it and I will learn it forever. Random succeed chance but best learning result.
- If they leave me alone with a detailed written instruction - I will do it and figure out how it works. Good learning result.
- If they show me while explaining what they do and then leave me alone - I will copy what they did and figure out how it works. Good learning result.
- If they tell me how to do it without showing and then leave me alone - I will probably figure it out by myself but I might get stuck if I fail imagining what I am supposed to do. Random result.
- But if they make me do it while telling me what to do - I will be distracted by the words and only focus on doing one step at a time. My brain will be too busy on decoding verbal instructions and making use of them in real time to focus on what is the purpose of what I am doing. Poor result.

I also learn well by seeing and reading.
I am able to learn from listening but it depends on communicating style - the more abstract words the less I understand.

Reading and hands-on. I never could get much at all from lectures.

I second that. The only thing I’ve ever managed to do in lectures is to write down everything the teacher said or showed us, with no time for processing it, or else I’d miss something. Only when I read my notes did I start learning something. Complete waste of time if you ask me. Much better to be doing something else with the time I spent in the lecture.

I'm a visual learner. I need to literally see logical connections in my head. When there's only text or speech, I tend to attribute some random image to it that pops up in my mind. I also attend my classes whenever I can, because they usually help me a lot. I can also learn by doing things, but with a major in English, there's nothing to learn by doing unfortunately.

I cannot take anything in if I am just talked at. I have to write things down, read and then do. I can figure out most things myself given time as opposed to someone else trying to teach me.

I know this will sound weird, but I learn best when I listen while drawing.

It took me a long time to apply it, but at some point when I was a kid, I realized that when I look at old drawings of mine, I can clearly remember what I was listening to at the time when I made each stroke of the pen. It became a big help in college.

Me to I have been experimenting to find this out for quite some time. When I found this website I knew I was right so much more of my learning accelerated to new heights. http://www.thegreatcourses.com/

It changed everything for my learning as you can go so deep into subjects and topics that your interested in and it is presented by professors in the best college class rooms in the world.

I realise this might not be for all people as all learn differently, that is on of the main things of being autistic.

I'm a Visual Learner too, and I often work best when it's quiet and/or I'm alone. For some reason I type faster than I write so I also use a computer.

visual and physical.
meaning i understand things best when i'm taught visually and learn for myself through any kind of physical action with my hands/body.

and this is why i'm getting my degree in sculpture lol

This is how I got through college. I'd just sit down and doodle in my notebook, usually basic three dimensional shapes but it allowed me to focus.

*THIS IS NOT ME AT ALL*

but interesting and relevant.
i know a woman who pays attention in lectures by simultaneously reading romance novels.
