I am new on here but I have to say that suck at dating. I have dated two guys in my short twenty three years of life. But both times I have been broken up with. I was with my first ex for two weeks. We are friends. My second relationship only lasted a day. Yes a day. He actually broke up with me a few hours ago. He just wants to be friends and he prefers to be single. Oh well. I don't it is meant for to date. I try to not get discouraged.

Welcome to the forum Ashley, and I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down. I've been thinking a lot about dating, recently, because I also have not been having much luck. I feel that most people, to use your words, "suck at dating". Maybe we suck a bit more, but judging by all those sad songs out there, a whole lot of other people struggle with it.

I think it's way too early for you to say you don't think you're meant to date. You've got a long time ahead of you in which to find the right guy.

Now, when you say it only lasted a day...

did you know each other before that?

Because honestly a relationship that lasts only a day is not a real relationship in my humble opinion, and I would never consider it one.

A 'real' relationship for me would have to be at least a week minimum. And even then, that is a short-term relationship.

So I understand you are hurt and it sucks something like this happened.

But I'd say it's for the best. If this â55høle really broke up with you after one day, clearly he is the one with the problem here. Best you got out of it now then end up dating this person for a while.

That's what i tell myself when a very short relationship ends. "It was for the best, it's best you're out now before you went too far in deep. Earlier is better then later."

I mean, who actually does that kind of rubbish?

And nevermind about the first ex. It was short but it was something. My first and only ex I lasted 12 days with. And ony reason was dumped was because she wasn't ready for a boyfriend and had also lost her feelings for me...

Also, I wouldn't evaluate how successful you are at dating based on how long you were together.

The way I see it "dating" is an activity to get to know someone else in a casual setting. You may or may not be suitable for each other, and that's fine, you can evaluate that over a few days or few months.

A "relationship" is something that happens over very long time - It can take months or years for what I consider relationship to take root.

If you have had neither many dates or relationships in your life, then it's quite normal to develop strong feelings of excitement, to find someone reciprocate interest in you - But that should be the tip of the iceberg - Or icing on the cake. A relationship is about the connection between two people.

I think you will find this is the case for most on here unfortunately, hopefully you'll be able to find someone worthwhile that you mesh with eventually one way or another.

Welcome to Wrong Planet and keep an optimistic attitude so you'll be able to find yourself the right guy.

I dated my first GF for 18 months. Family issues got in the way, so I didn't have much of a choice
but to break up with her.

I had known the guy for a few months and we were friends. He ended telling up me today that he broke up with me so he could see how I would react. I was upset. He has a lot of bad relationships and he thought I would end up breaking his heart.

Hang in there. I have been in similar situations where It was ended by the other party. Don't give up hope. And be patient with yourself. If you continue being yourself and being who you need to be you will run into someone who will fall head over heels for you and you won't need to worry about blotching it up as he will love you for being you.

A date is like an interview. You each have goals your goal is to see the person your dating is what your looking for.

Are you looking for married?

Are you looking for kids?

Are you just looking for causal sex?

Things like this you need to find out. I find sometimes one must be blunt when it comes to what your looking for. God forbid you get in a couple month relationship and that person does not want anything you want.

You want a partner right? Sometimes people dates opposites as in the corporate world this adds to your strengths as you can see another spectrum where as dating someone completely different can cause huge amount of problems.
