Hidden Roommates
I don't know if it is a common thing among us as writers or if it is a thing that all writers have, but let me set up a special scenario.
You wake up and do your daily routine. Alright. Fine and good. You finished putting your clothes on, you straightened your hair so that nobody in the house voices concern, and you just poured yourself a big bowl of Kix.
Then, out of the blue, your characters from your novel start engaging in speech.
Except it's directed at you.
It isn't a voice in your head that you "hear" per se, but one that you unwittingly think. And you're aware that they are asking about something going on in your life, like why you decided it'd be okay to eat a cereal that looks like rabbit droppings.
I'm hoping to find at least one other person who knows about this strange sort of "Roommate"-ism that others would say is unorthodox and in need of "psychological attention". Is there anyone out there who hears/converses with their characters, either vocally or in the back of their mind?

Reminds me of a horror movie called I, Madman. A young woman, researching a deceased writer, while interviewing the writer's publisher, learns the man had been schizophrenic, and at one point had returned the advance paid to him, saying that the characters were talking back to him, and refusing to do what he wanted them to do.
But, no, I personally haven't had that experience so far, but sounds like an interesting one, though.
