He did well with the crowd and noise. We ate dinner together in the club overlooking the rink, and talked - he ordered his own meal and asked the waitress for another soda when she went by. He chuckled and smiled when my adult friends made jokes, he shook hands with my friends when they offered theirs, ALMOST looking them in their eyes, but at least glancing up at their faces momentarilly as they said hello.

It was a great night. More for me than him - as every now and then I can go to sleep thinking that this kid (he's 17 now) will do just fine with more time to get ready for life as an adult - and tonight is one of those nights.

:)

I don't know why I but I have always loved sports games, even when I was a little kid I loved going to my uncles high school games or to the local minor league games on free ticket nights (damn I miss those nites!) when they were alwaysssssssssssssss packed. I wonder if this level of comfort will be translated well to other situations, like I have always and still do hate some resturants.

Other than some very high pitched whistles coming from behind us (drunk sheet rockers) near the end of the game, the noise did not bug him. I asked, and he said it didn't, at least.

I know but to be there is a difference between sporting events where theres something I can clearly focus my mind on and a restraunt where that is not so easy. Heres to hoping though!
