Hey dudes and ladies.
Hello! I will refrain from attempted to diagnose myself with any disorders (I grew out of the "being psycho is cool" phase, unlike some teenagers!), but suffice to say that I am not exactly normal.
Okay let's have the tie-breaker - I mean ice-breaker. (TL;DR?)
Age: Sixteen.
Location: Land of Eng (presently, Cornwall, on holiday)
Hobbies and Interests: Computer games, especially older ones and adventure games (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, more recently Psychonauts etc. Also enjoy Morrowind and... other ones). Foreign languages except French. Dollfies. I like to draw and write though I may not be very good at either. Programming in C/C++ is a thing I got into as a small child and I am good at computery things in general. Also I like webcomics, usually with odd turns of phrase, such as Achewood, dinosaur comics, and Thinkin' Lincoln. Wordplay is fun!
Why are you here? Originally I was debating with a friend about whether Aspergers was a real DISORDER or just a set of personality traits which were classed as a disorder because they were negative. Ho hum. And I wanted to get more info on Asperger's so here I am. But really also I am here to maybe talk with some cool people!
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
Favorite subjects: I used to enjoy English Language (analysing language rather than poncey stuff about poems and rubbish) and German. Psychology is interesting. I don't enjoy most subjects at school because I only like to learn about superficial parts, or interesting parts; too much detail or too much BORING dismays me.
Year/Grade: Year 12 (sixth form)
Favorite music: Bleepy midis from old games and mostly I will listen to anything anyone else is playing. Some favourites include Morrissey, Leonard Cohen, and soothingly repetitive techno/dance stuff.
Books: Uhhh hmm. I like books but not enough to really have favourites.
TV shows/Movies: House is good but formulaic. QI and Nevermind the Buzzcocks are excellent. Mighty Boosh (though Noel Fielding is, I think, funnier outside of the show) aaand... stupid stuff like ATHF, Moral Orel, Pokemon (IT IS TEAM ROCKET AGAIN WHAT A SURPRISE I AM SO SHOCKED)
Instrument: couldn't play one to save my life (teacher gave up marking me in music lessons and just left me alone)
Do you like sports? I fail at this too! I took up self-defence at school because I thought it might be fun. Avoided more lessons by hiding in the common room and eating cookies than I went to.
Family: Awesome sister and parents. My dad is very good with computers and gadgets and can fix things like that very easily so that's probably why I am good with that kind of thing also. My sister is hilarious and cool but veeeery different from me. Very social, always going out and drinking every night.
Clothing: I wear the same stuff for ages. Buying new clothes is boring, difficult and stressful. Luckily since I am so thin I can wear almost anything - unluckily I have an almost prepubescent looking body so nothing fits very well. But there you go.
How did you find this website? Searching on Google. Also didn't SA make fun of this? Probably.
Job: None
Plans for the future? I want to be a hobo in a field. Living in a box with an umbrella and a dog.
I wrote too much, sorry.

Welcome to WrongPlanet, Orenji.
I was diagnosed with HFA, in 1980 at the age of five.
I was just like you, when I was your age. I didn't see much of a future for me, because nobody believed in me. My plans for my future was to become a long-haired hippie, living in a tent and dancing in a medow filled with flowers.
Now I'm unemployed at the age of 32, but I'm far from being a hippie. I'm living through the late 1970s as opposed to the late 1960s.
I hope you like it, here.
Hey, there, Orenji.
No such thing as too much.
At 40, I'm a youthful Dino Aspie (those of us who are 40+).
I played the violin all through school.
I'm big into pets: 5 dogs and 1 cat.
Pretty good with computers -- and work in a tech-related field.
Love most music. Classical, opera, blues, a little techno, Regina Spektor, The Stones, Van Morrison, Eurythmics...too much to list.
Generally, most here feel that if you want to be here, you're welcome. You don't need a Dx or a label. Although if you're more comfortable here than most places and/or if you find yourself saying "Me, too!" to lots of posts...we'll you've probably got your Dx
Welcome!

Hi!
Welcome to Wrongplanet!
I hope you enjoy posting here!
Yes, word, DogDancer...
I am 46, diagnosed this year, and a verbal Aspie. I have synesthesia, excellent spatial abilities (apparently a rarity among Aspies), and have no clue socially. I can fake it, but that's all it is, and it gives me enough time to get to know someone before I lower the boom.
I'm an artist, a writer, and am currently working in Eng. Composition and Rhetoric.
I kayak, hike, read (am a snobby reader), am learning to silversmith, bead, and watch the occasional tv program. I tend to use tv as background noise. If anything on the tube catches my eye, it's usually "House," all the CSI's (related to another interest), the Law and Order franchises (same thing), "Mythbusters," anything on archeology, history, or weird subjects (spontaneous human combustion, freak shows, ufos, crop circles).
I love movies, especially silent films. Which is odd, as it's difficult for me to watch movies.
Welcome to Wrong Planet.
