I was driving to the market today and saw a billboard. On it was posted, "Come to ___ Park for sweets and treats last weekend!"

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

It took me a minute to figure that one out. But eventually I got it. What it should have read was, "Come to ___Park for sweets and treats, last weekend!" :D

Your correction made the sentence more comprehensible.

Now....if you put a dash where the comma is, it would convey the message even better.

Newspaper headlines can get worse.

Like this actual headline years ago:

"American Sentenced to Life in Scotland"

( Talk about "cruel and unusual"!).

Or this:

"Solar System to be Fixed"

(did a planet get stuck?)

Yes, punctuation really does matter!

A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons.

"Why?" asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"Well, I'm a panda," he says. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

I actually thought of that and actually spent some time debating which one would be more correct. I was going to even look it up but it was so late that I just settled for the comma.

And I believe this is the 30th anniversary of the first Back To The Future movie so we  may have just discovered a secret conspiracy!

Hey Skibum,

I'm glad you seem happy today.

Even though your close relative doesn't really understand you, I feel like this person would want you to be happier. I guess he/she might not be going about it the right way.

I want you to be happy, too.

Oh definitely. The person's intentions are very pure and only for the best. They usually are and they are usually coming from a place of love and support. It's just sometimes even with the best intentions, people don't realize what they are actually saying or how they are coming across.

But yeah, right now I feel pretty good. I had to get up early, need to get to the muffler place to replace my muffler and tail pipe assembly on my car before the whole thing just falls right off. Just thought I'd stop in here for a minute and see what was up.

The posts people put up on this thread are fabulous and I hope many more will add to it.

Yeah...you don't want that muffler dragging on the ground while you drive!

The result: Misophonia for even the most non-Misophoneous person.

:D
I am a bit sad about fixing it though because I kind of like the my car sounding like a motor boat and I could not afford the motor boat sounding muffler. My brother told me not to get that one anyway since it's kind of ghetto. :D

I actually do need to go now though since they open in 45 minutes and I want to be the first one in line to get my car done.
See you guys later.
