They found 1998 clip of Ben Carson speaking before a group of Seventh Day Adventists in which he stated that he believes that the Pyramids were not built as tombs of Pharoahs, but were "built by Joseph for the Pharoahs for grain storage". When recently asked about the video clip he said that he still holds that opinion.

Wow!

The Pyramids have ridiculously little usable space relative their huge size.

The ratio of stone to space is much greater in the Parthenon, and MUCH greater in the Pantheon, or in any Gothic Cathedral, or in the Taj Mahal, than in the Pyramids.

But Carson says the Pyramids were grain storage warehouses. They seem a bit over built for that purpose. But he is a cardiologist so he should know. Or not. Dont know if cardiology gives you insight into engineering, or into archeology, or not.

When reading your post there was a little advertisement placed at the bottom that read:

"7 Hidden Dementia Signs"

Could this be the reason for his belief? Or perhaps he thought that if God (or someone else) were to pick up a pyramid and poke it into the ground it would create a great PIT to store grain in and when it was full you turn the pyramid over and use it to cap off the stored grain.

HAS ANYONE EVER MOVED A PYRAMID TO SEE WHAT'S UNDERNEATH?

Yes because they'd store their dead with the grain...

And Hillary Clinton believes that she can converse with Eleanor Roosevelt. Is that more rational?

The story of Joseph takes place during Egypt's middle kingdom, which was a few hundred years after the pyramids were built.

Was she actually speaking literally? While I've never heard that charge before, if true, I have to think she must have been referring to the Eleanor Roosevelt of her imagination - that is, asking herself, what would Eleanor do in this situation. Actually, I imagine plenty of sane, rational people do such intellectual exercises. As for Ben Carson's idea about the pyramids - - that isn't so much crazy as it's dumb.

Dr. Carson has an iffy relationship with the truth. That is, he sometimes ignores it completely and makes something up instead.

The best thing I can say about his factually-challenged statements is that they tend to be just goofy, rather than self-aggrandizing (like, ah, "I remember landing under sniper fire") or politically convenient ("The attack was a spontaneous response to a YouTube video").

I'd find it hard to vote for Dr. Carson. I hope the GOP settles on a better candidate.

I saw a few years ago a show called (I believe) Chasing Mummies, concerning Dr. Hawass' investigation of ancient Egyptian tombs. Hawass would rip Carson a brand new a$$ hole.

How is this joker leading in polls? He also fabricated the story of him being violent during his childhood and he was a snake oil salesman. Trump should be on top, as he said "A Lot of Things Will Come Out". Carson's 15 minutes are up now.

Past cycle the 999 guy Herman Cain led in the polls for a little while. It's not unusual for crazy people to lead in Republican presidential polls. :P

I like Carson. I like Cruz a lot more, but I could at least consider Carson.

He said it was a personal theory. How many of us have personal theories based on minimal evidence?

Pyramids were built over several centuries and over 118 have been identified.

Is it really that crazy to say some of them may have been built as granaries? I'd say it'd be crazy to eliminate that possibility.
