Did anyone ever have a particular piece of music make them cry? There's this one song, by Toto, which always makes me teary eyed for some reason. And there isn't any reason; like, it doesn't remind me of anyone or anything in particular. Anyone else?

Yes, that Green Day song they play at every high school graduation. 'The time of your life' or something like that.

Whenever I hear a song played really badly, I want to cry...

The song "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen always makes me stop whatever I am doing, just can't think or move or anything.

In general, I have an extremely powerful connection to music. Some days I sing more than I talk.

Th effect of music is too powerful for me to even describe. It has been my lifelong obsession. Every piece of music affects me in some way, and some chords or series of notes can leave me in a state of elation..others can leave me full of this deep felt sorrow. Many, many songs, are my access into scenes from my past..imagery.

It can often directly affect moods can it?

If I hear a particularely moving piece I can tear up... Hell I tear up to acts of heroism in television, films and literature...

Can't say that I ever have that happen. When it comes to art almost nothing ever gets an emotional response from me. I wonder if I'm the only one who is like this or if I'm the only one who's willing to post it? :?

Aaron Copland said he had never shed a tear over music in his life. I think there are probably many other composers who are unsentimental about music.

I am obsessed with music. I think the only times I've shed tears about a song is if there was alcohol involved and/or I had something else going on at the same time.

Many songs bring me to tears...I can't remember all of them...one that comes to my mind is a devotional song in Hebrew by Rita Glassman called 'Shema'. I couldn't understand the Hebrew part at all...but I was shedding tears nevertheless...

Aside from songs, reading Hebrew words brings me to tears as well...I don't speak Hebrew so I don't understand a word, but I don't know why...just reading them touches me profoundly...(Adonai...adonai..)

Oh yeah. I am rarely emotionized by mundane human stuff, but music can make me well up tears.

Another thing that can make me cry is the beautiful set of scenes in "2001 A Space Odessy" where the spacecraft are performing such wonderful ballet to the strains of Blue Danube.

There is a song that is written by my friend Clif. The song is called "Hold on, Friend of a Friend." The song is centered around a Gay teenager who hangs himself, and it is based on a true event. Everyone goes silent when it's played, and there is not a dry eye in the room.

I can't listen to "Concrete Angel" by Martina McBride without bawling. Same with "Remember When" by Alan Jackson. Lately I've been wanting to cry listening to "Dearest" by Ayumi Hamasaki.

"Concrete Angel" is just a sad song. "Remember When" is the song my parents want played at their funerals (which hopefully won't be for a long time). "Dearest" is a song my former friend and I used to listen to together. I miss her sometimes.
