i read everyone's signature, and was thinking that there are quite a few of them i find intriguing enough to want to know what they mean, or where they're derived from.

so, chaps and chapesses, here's your chance to explain what your signature means: its relevance to you, why you've used it, what the allusions are, and all that sort of stuff.

and, just think - every time you change it (if you do) you can explain it here, and show us all how profound you are (or not, as the case may be...).

to start the ball rolling (even if you're not interested, i should walk my talk, as it were), mine refers to neotopian being shortened to "Neo" and - bearing in mind my avatar - i thought i should be Trinity. and it's always puzzled me why, in all the discussion on the internet about the philosophical and religious meanings of The Matrix, no-one's actually mentioned the Triple Goddess, so i have. that'll learn 'em!

"CUT YOUR HAIR YOU D*MN HIPPY!

REALLY long hair is SO old fashioned. It annoys me as much as people that pull their pants upto their armpits.

Awesome idea for a thread. I'll post each time I change it. (and quote my old ones so people know what i'm talking about).

My sig is classic Devo - and given my general communication difficulties and trouble finding anyone who gets me, it seemed apt for an aspie forum... (plus I thought it was funny). :)

My signature:

"I am I."- Ayanami Rei

It's from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. Rei is my favorite character, and rather aspie-ish herself. I see a lot of myself in her. Rei has some identity problems, for reasons I will not go into in case anyone ever wants to watch the series and not be spoiled. The nonspoiler summary is this: She's a tool for the man that she looks up to, and she feels she has no true identity of her own. The line comes from a self-reflective poem that she recites (it's a voiceover in the series):

Quote:
Mountains. Heavy are the mountains, but that changes over time.

Sky... Blue sky. What your eyes can't see. What your eyes can see.

Sun...There is only one.

Water... Comforting. Commander Ikari?

Flower... So many alike. So many useless.

Sky... Red, red sky. Red is the color. Red is the color I hate.

Water flowing.

Blood... The smell of blood. A woman who never bleeds.

From the red earth comes man, from the soil.

Born of man and woman is Man.

Town... A human creation.

Eva... A human creation as well.

What is a human? A creation of God?

Is it a human creation?

The things I possess are my life and soul. I am a vessel for my heart.

Entry Plug, the throne for a soul.

Who is this? This is me.

Who am I? What am I? What am I? What am I? What am I?

I am I. This, that which is, is myself. That which is formed is me.

This is the me that can be seen, yet feels as if this is not myself.

A strange feeling. I feel as if my body is melting.

I can no longer see myself. My shape is fading.

I feel the presence of someone who is not me.

Who is there, beyond me here?

Ikari?

I know this person. She is Captain Katsuragi.

Doctor Akagi...

Others... Classmates...

The pilot of Unit 02.

Commander Ikari?

Who are you?

Who are you?

Who are you?

Quote:
no-one's actually mentioned the Triple Goddess

Interestingly enough, Rei also stands for the Triple Goddess, in the world of Evangelion, among other things.

God is dead! Long live God!

I am making some reference to neitzche who once said "God is dead." I think this is true, as long as we rember the quote

The King is dead! Long live the King!.

what I am saying is we make new gods and idols when our old ones are no longer any good to us. . . .

Just some lyrics from a song I like that seemed to fit my philosophy on life. They seemed pretty cool at the time, but now that I look at them again, they're a bit on the cheese side. I'll have to look through my music for something a little more fitting...

Quote:
"Seal my fate tonight. I hate to have to cut the fun short, but the joke's wearing thin. Let the audience in. Let my opera begin!"

-Phantom from "Phantom of the Opera"

It's from a pivotal scene in Phantom of the Opera...PLOT SPOILERS

It's said before the opera he wrote is performed. It's the point in the movie where he begins his scheme to end things once and for all, which fails. He later hijacks someone's role after murdering them, and gets unmasked. After that point, he's pretty much gone completly insane. I consider Phantom to be very Aspie or HFA because I can understand many of the problems he has. I felt sorry for him the entire time while watching.

My signature is kind of a nerd litmus test. People in the entertainment industry would refer to it as a 2 percenter, meaning that they woudl expect 2 out of every hundred people to get it.

I want to have this as my sig, but it is too long-

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, co-operate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” - Robert A. Heinlein

I don't have a signature here, but my signature on another fourm is similar to Anachronism's. It's
"There are only 11 types of people in the world,
those who understand Gray code and those who don't."
I bet only one in a thousand get it.

Mine is taken from the first Resident Evil game- a sort of b movie inspired game which is famous for having absolutely terrible dialogue and bad acting.

The full quote is:

Quote:
Take this lockpick, Jill. It might come in handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it.
--Barry from Resident Evil (original ver.)

Barry is my favourite character, everything he says is pure gold. :D

My signature, Jeremiah 29:11 “ For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” because it is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It reminds me that whatever happens, God will care for me and make His plans for my life, better than I could imagine, come to be.

Also "I'm looking for my Colonel Brandon" I put this on because I am a hopeless romantic and zSense & Sensibility is one of my favorite books. I am looking for one man, just one, who can be totally bevoted to me and I can be totally devoted to him, just like Col. Brandon and Marianne in the end, Except I'm not gonna be dumb like Marianne :P
