Hi, new to WP, prompted by NT reaction

Hello,

Myself formally identified as neuo-atypical (dyslexic/disgraphic and a few others) around 1975, then adhd.

and later formally Asperger. My own sub catagory (high functioning, actor, internal focused meltdowns).

Decided to join after upsetting friends who have a teenage son on the spectrum.

Tried to tell them there was hope for him as he reminded me of myself when I was his age, (in response to heir despair).

Ironically they told me I have no understanding of his condition, and there was no hope for him to improve.

Oh well

Welcome to WB GrayDog! Maybe you can help them find a program in your area that can help with ASD/AS? Awareness of these diagnoses and programs to help people cope with them have become far more common than when you and I were just getting our feet wet in the stream of life. Try looking for a few and get some information on them to give to the parents.
