No. This is the only way I've ever been and the only way I know how to be. I'd lose too many good qualities by "curing" it.

No. I wouldn't think of it as curing me, I'd think of it as completely changing who I was. It'd make my life a lot easier, but I'd be a different person :?
I can kind of understand why you would feel like that sometimes though. Just try not to think of it as something that needs to be cured, it's just a difference and it might not always seem like it, but there are good points to it too :)

Nope. Maybe once or twice I did, but then I realize I'd have to become a different person.

Definately not. As a child yes- I would have wanted "fixed" but not now. I love my passion, intelligence, and I enjoy being able to be objective, fair, honest, non-biased, etc.

No. I don't want to lose my positive qualities, or my individuality. If I was cured, I'd turn into one of the sheeple that I consantly see, walking down the street.

No, because it is NOT a disease! You are basically asking if we wish we were not ourselves. I'd like to alleviate some of the sensory issues, but I like my mind just fine, thanks.

Ha! sheeple is a great way to put it! feel the same way!!

i now revel in my uniqueness and love the way i view the world as opposed to "normal" people. Sometimes I think THEY'RE the ones that just don't "get it"....

Yeah, I feel the same way too. HECK, I see what some could do, and I would take MORE problems if I got more benefit. But naw, I'm OK with it.

I agree, I'd rather be how I am now, despite all the problems it causes, than 'normal'. A cure would just be an attempt to mold everybody into society's view of how we should be, how we should act and how we should feel. You can't cure somebody of who they are.

My words exactly.

With our ability to see things that escape so many NTs, I'd feel like I was losing my mental eyes; blinded into the dark world where I'd have to rely on emotions and superficial means of communication.

Not ever. Being autistic has never been painful or distressing for me personally. Quite the opposite. What is painful, is watching the efforts by NTs(often well-meaning) to "fix" autistic children/adults and other NTs who mistreat autistic people with open contempt and delight because they are different. The stress NTs see us suffer is not because of who/what we are, but because relating to NTs and meeting their emotional needs/demands is plain hard work at best, frightening and painful at worst. I cannot miss what I have never known.
