Hello everyone. I've been a lurker on this forum for a while, as I search on Google about my behaviors and always end up here reading a post of someone who experiences the same things! It's nice to know that there is a nice community of like-minded people out there. I'm happy to join up!

Anyway, here is a little about me. I have an unofficial diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome, but the more I read about it, the more I am convinced I really do have it to some degree. I won't list all my symptoms, but the ones that stand out most to me are my inability to understand many things about human nature and social protocols. Because of this lack of understanding, I am very socially anxious. I am also incredibly immature/childlike/naiive.

I've had several "special interests" over the years, but my current ones are World War 2 and airplanes. I'd love to talk with others interested in these subjects!

I'm looking forward to talking with everyone.

Welcome
I dont think a diagnosis is absolutely necessary, but I found that it helps your therapist to have a diagnosis if you go to therapy. I really hope we can b a help to you, whether it be a listening ear or advice, friendly acquaintences.

My daughter was diagnosed in the 4th grade. She is 16 now. The psychologist told us the symptoms and asked if either of us had similar symptoms. The light bulb came on in both our heads that I fit the symptoms more than my daughter, but I did not press the issue of getting a diagnosis. Then as the stress of my job and of being an aspy parent got to me and I realized I needed health, I went to therapy and tried lexipro, both of which were disasters. I tried to go on my own, but then came back to get a diagnosis and a new therapist. I think I am back on the right track now.

My hobbies are video games (pokemon) and dungeons and dragons, reading fantasy, and taking walks with my wife.

Hope you like ti here.

I can relate with the socially anxious thing. I can't stand being close to people unless they're immediate family and then only about two of them at that.

Welcome to the forum!

I've no special interest in ww2 or airplanes, but my dad repaired them in the war, then later flew in them after the war - welcome.
