For those of you who don't know, furries are a group of individuals who like anthropomorphic animals. Y'know those half-human half-animal characters usually seen in cartoons? here's a picture give you an idea:

If you think you might be a furry, here's a question that might help you find out: Have you ever gotten very attached to a furry character so much so that you would use it as your avatar? (they are often called 'fursonas')

Since I've herd that it is common for someone in the autistic spectrum to be a furry, I'm making this thread here In WP just to find out how many furries are in this forum.

Personally I'm a furry. But honestly, as of this writing, I don't know which animal can I truly identify with. (right now I'm thinking about being a raccoon for some reason. I dunno maybe it's because I like Rocket Raccoon?

Hmm, to a point, I always have a hard time understanding this one. I know a couple of people that seem to be furries (er... I think), but it's not something I personally ever cared for.

However, there is the sort of character that's MOSTLY human... but then there's a small part that isnt. Like the characters that have cat ears for no apparent reason other than "because". They can be appealing. Depends on the character.

My favorite being one that wouldnt be something like a cat-girl, because that'd make too much sense. No, in this case it's an insect-girl, which tends to sound bloody horrible in print, really.

That'd be this character, named Wriggle Nightbug:

with a couple of additional pictures found here: http://imgur.com/a/91u36 because I dont want to clog up the post with oversized images.

For whatever reason, that one really gets me, more than the cat-ear one. Though, as I also tend to like insects (I'm the sort that always refuses to kill them, and will directly just pick them up and take them outside, with the exception of house centipedes, which I just ignore because they're WAY too fast to be grabbed and also if someone were to see me carrying one of those they'd have a heart attack or something since people tend to find them terrifying) maybe it's not THAT surprising. And I'm kinda strange to begin with, I suppose.

Incidentally, that character is also one that I'd absolutely love to do a cosplay of. Considering that. Provided I can do it without looking totally stupid.

I'm not, but I have no problem with them. I hate the stereotypes they receive, like all they do is have sex with each other. I used to watch the TV show 1000 Ways to Die until there was an episode where they talked about furries as sex maniacs. That turned me off of the show. Another forum I used has bashed furries in the past, and I was quite angry at them for it. It's so sad how the media only focuses on a very small subset of the people.

I'm not and I think it's kind of weird but I don't particularly care if someone else is. This thread is the first time I've heard of furries. Are they similar to otherkin etc that seem to come up on tumblr a lot?

I've definitely got some furry tendencies, yeah. Nothing like a fursona or anything though, but I love the art.

Some if it due to the fact that I feel closer to animals than humans, they're calming, and they don't judge your behaviour.

No, I'm not a furry. I don't really get it. I'm not against it in any way, it's just not for me. If I was going to have an avatar of something or even dress up it would as a Jedi or Stormtrooper or even a Star Wars alien of some kind.

Only furry by dint of being almost Robin Williams. Don't quite have the wool suit. Like I said, almost......

But, I do get it, if only on a surface level. One of those, you gotta know one to know about it. Mass information usually wants to play up the strangeness of individuals instead of the actual movement.

No, but I do own a number of animal themed onesies that I wear for the sexual gratification of those that are.

My personal favorite is my custom made Totoro onesie, I usually wear it in lieu of a bathroom robe.

Finally Someone who ISN'T a furry and yet defends them as if he/she were one! I sincerely congratulate you for your humanity! :thumright: (no kidding!)
