Everytime after I eat my gut feels uncomfortable, bloated and full. Going to the bathroom, my BM usually feels incomplete, sometimes constipated. It makes me pretty irritable some days :(. Also, oddly, my skin feels more sensitive along with the discomfort in my gut after eating. The wind blowing on my skin, or my clothes brushing against my skin are annoying. Anyone else experience problems with their gut? Know of anything to relieve the discomfort?

Yep, hugely. I'm convinced that my troubles are caused by being born with inability to burp. The reflex just doesn't respond. Looking to have this corrected surgically in the near future if possible.
I absolutely cannot stand constipation, that feeling is the worst. Drinking enough water, often mixed with a fruit juice helps, but there are laxative solutions you can get over counter if that's an issue for you. Some dietary investigation might also be needed. It seems a lot of gut problems you're just expected to put up with, and I absolutely don't agree with this. If it's uncomfortable for you, I say get it looked into. It might be able to be fixed completely.

I have massive digestion problems so that there isn't much I can actually eat; gluten, meat, and sugar do not agree with me at all.

I do on and off. I believe I have food sensitivities. Gut problems can actually be indicative of serious medical issues and should not be assumed to be minor annoyances.

I don't know if you've seen a doctor for it, but I would recommend it. Many things can cause such symptoms.

Yeah I avoid wheat and gluten. I had stopped eating it entirely for a few years, but started again. I am stopping again because of digestive issues, although over Christmas was difficult, so I waited until January.

Yes was diagnosed with I B S.Try to stick with gluten free foods and cut sugar right down.Anxiety is a trigger too.This is probably related to difficulties associated with being autistic.
Have found acupuncture helps greatly.

I do. I was also given an IBS diagnosis. It's one of those conditions that they can only diagnose by generally ruling everything else out. I would ask a doctor about your symptoms because they're very much like mine.

Unfortunately there is no easy answer for it. It's a lot of trial and error when it comes to food. Start paying extra attention to what you eat and how it affects you. Since everyone reacts to food differently no one can tell you exactly what to eat and what not to eat but there is a lot of information online to help you start figuring it out. You may also want to start taking Metamucil a few times a week. That's what my doctor suggested.

Ever since I was 18, I've had intermittent diarrhea and constipation--occasionally, I go in my pants (only once in the past year, though).

I vomited quite a bit before the age of 5. One of my first memories is the smell of vomit.

There are studies that show those of us on the spectrum are more likely to have these kinds of stomach issues.

When I used to read case studies of 1950's autistic children, many of them had gut problems.

I have gastritis. It doesn't seem like there's much I'm allowed to eat either but it's hard to tell for me. When partnered with anxiety, I can't tell what foods are okay with my stomach. Sometimes I can eat the same food and have a different reaction. For example so many times I ate curly fries I had my heart race but the last time I ate them it was okay.


I don't know if there is a cure. I have tried marshmallow root but I dunno if it was working. I believe it got rid of my esophagitis though but I know it lowers your blood sugar. Doctors tell me to stop taking it but I only take it as listed on the bottle. I am looking to try potato juice. One website I read says that helps a lot of things. Anyway it can't hurt as it's just food. I also have a mix of herbs/vitamins that was listed on a naturopathic website. I might try that more also if the potato juice does not work.

I don't know if I have any problems or not, but I find myself feeling unwell when I get stressed, and whenever I need to use the toilet, if I wait too long it can be quite painful. Also, when I feel unwell and stressed, I can't eat properly. I always worry about throwing up, but I can't remember the last time I did. I think my body hates it so much, it forces it down the other way instead. I'm trying not to sound too gross here...

I'd like to recommend a book that made a BIG improvement with my gut problems.

"Breaking the Vicious Cycle" (Intestinal Health Through Diet) by Elaine Gottschall B.A., M.Sc. by the Kirkton Press; Kirkton, Ontario, Canada

ISBN 0-9692768-1-8

This helps you not only to identify a particular food issue you might be having,
but it also provides alternate foods to replace something that doesn't agree with you.

I'd say it was a huge part of the journey to remission for me.

I've found that taking probiotics, yogurt or even Yakult will help my gut shrink and feel better. I don't think my intestines hold onto beneficial bacteria for long. I have to replenish it almost every day. Some foods make it worse, especially tomatoes. Food with a lot of sodium can cause me to get backed up also. And I have rheumatoid arthritis, which I take Aleve (naproxen sodium) to help with. But that can also cause constipation and it is not good for your stomach or intestines. Wish I only had one health problem.
