I have been and always will be broken. :geek:

You say that you're slipping away
As you turn from the hand that could save you
You fell like a drunk down a well
Like a dog into Hell you were sinking
And you took it all in as a joke
As if you didn't know you were broken
Hiding out in the rain you stood soaking

Breathing in the glass to your last lung
All blackened and cracking and blue
Creeping through the slums of your old world
Where nothing about you is new
They laughed and as they turned their backs

You slid into a crack no one saw
And stayed there for a very long time
Dying of nothing at all
Though you went to the doctor to cope
And he sold you the new antidote
And he told you that you had been broken

They say you gave yourself away for a moment
But no one would take you
You said, I'm alive, but you're dead
Cause nothing about you is new
Even though you had been diagnosed
And were given the new antidote
And were numb to the rain and the soaking
You have been and always will be broken

Haven't thought about it much. But maybe Mad World:

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere

Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world, mad world

Enlarging your world

Mad World

Thank you. Though the concept was a quad personality (I know I have no such disorders) It's been my theme song since I first heard it in '73. I just glommed onto it. For some reason it just spoke to me on authority figures not taking me serious or just passing me on.
But, you are right.....It has taken on special meaning at this time.

When you get to be my age there is more then one song. Here are some of them.

Suzanne Vega Left of Center

The appropriatly named "Missing Persons" with "Destination Unknown" and "Windows"

Oingo Boingo - On The Outside

Quote:
They laugh at me aloud
They say I'm just a clown
That I ain't got no pride
I'm on the outside
The girls look really cute
They really make it work
They think I'm just a jerk
I'm on the outside
I never could sit still
I never was too hip
I never caught the ride
I'm on the outside

I'm on the outside, I'm on the outside now
This is where it all begins right here
On the outside lookin' in, I'm on the outside

I never was a punk
I never shot junk
I never even tried counter
Culture passed me right by
(I'm on the outside)

Don't talk to debutantes
Don't eat in restaurants
The patrons sit and stare
The waiters make wise cracks behind my back
(I'm on the outside)

Teachers there in school
They flunked me by the rule
They say I had no motivation, brains or dedication
I guess the imbeciles were right I'm on the outside

I'm on the outside, I'm on the outside now
This is where it all begins on the outside looking in
Looking in
At you
I'm just an alien through and through
Tryin' to make believe I'm you
Tryin' to fit
Just a stranger on the outside looking in

The disco makes me sick I
Wear the wrong clothes
I say the wrong things
You know I can't dance
My feet are much too wide (I'm on the outside)

You think you set the trends
You wear your hair just right
Your clothes are out-a-sight
Your house is modern really kitch
You get so macho when you're with your b***h
(I'm on the outside)

I see them go to work
I see them go to sleep
I see them on T.V.
I see them laugh and cry
I'm on the outside. I'm on the outside. I'm on the outside

I'm on the outside. I'm on the outside now
I'm on the outside
I'm on the outside now

That windows song really hits it on the head. The opening lyrics really describe what I do feel.

"Something feels so strange tonight
It's not wrong but it's just not right"

Yep....that sums a lot of things up. The other lyrics are spot on. It's just so strange to hear something open up so strongly with my identifications.

I agree that as you get older, you can have different songs to express yourself through. Thanks for opening up a new door. :)

OH!! And you posted the lyrics to "On the Outside" too. Yep...that one gets it too.....

Couldn't understand the singing.......
