I've noticed that every single time I am unwell, it feels unbearable when people touch me, more than normal, although I am sensitive to touch anyway. Sounds hurt my ears a lot unless they are very quiet, although I'm sensitive to sound too, just not as much as when I'm unwell. It just feels like all my senses are really intensified. Does anyone else get this, and is it common in aspies, or NT's or both?

Yes. In everything. Your defenses are down when you are not well. Stress and other factors will take resources away from one area to compensate for another. For me, it's the filter that gets blown away.

Yes and then people say things like "It's not my fault you're sick".

Yeah. When I'm healthy I don't have any sensory issues. When I'm sick my sensory issues can get pretty bad. NTs get sensory issues during a hangover.

I think it may be the other way for me, because there are the sick feelings when I am sick, so I tend to focus on those more unusual feelings instead of other feelings, so other feelings may seem dampened from normal.

My touch and sound sensitivities are much much worse, especially during a fever or if I am unable to sleep. In fact, that's how I usually know a fever is coming on--everything gets very loud and there's a ringing sound in my ears. My skin hurts and it feels like stinging ants are crawling all over me. When I get sick, all I want to do is lie in a quiet, dark room with the blanket wrapped tight around me.

That's basically what I do when I'm ill- my senses are my worst enemy

Yes definitely. It's not just being sick with whatever that keeps me out of school, but also the extreme hypersensitivity I experience.

Yes, very much so. Ability to cope drops through the floor.

I think I become less sensitive when I'm not feeling well, especially if it's the deadly nigh incurable Man Flu.

Ok...I get that this is some sort of metaphor or something, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out.

Please explain 'Man Flu'.

I will not be offended if it's derogatory towards men. Just wanna understand it.
